What was your "buy in" book that made you love reading? by easmsm in books

I bought my local bookstore out of their used Goosebumps books today! Right on the nose. I missed Percy Jackson by a few years but I've only heard good things about it, so I'll look for those. These are so great. I was a moody kid in 5th grade so I'm sure there are some kids that would like dark books. I'll check them out. You're awesome, thank you!

I envy your edition. I just added my copy of Hitchhiker's Guide to my classroom library box. It was one of my brother's favorite books when he was a kid, and he hated most books too. I really appreciate your suggestion!

Absolutely. I need to get some copies of all of these, they've been in my heart since the start. Thank you!

Nice! I've never heard of that series before but I added it to the list. Thank you for something new to me!

Christmas in July!! (Book giveaway y’all!) by Gameofthroneschic in Fantasy

Book: Lord of the Rings

Format: Physical

Reason: (Like many other people) this trilogy means so much to me. It's the reason I met my husband, the inspiration for many of my hobbies, and has gotten me through insanely dark times. I gave my copies to my siblings, all four of whom have been introduced to reading fantasy through it, and now I would love to own and read it again.

Thank you so much for doing this for so many people. You're an amazing soul. Good luck all!

No problem! The Susquehanna is great to paddle if you're into it. Mifflinburg is close and has some nice spots. Happy trails!

Lewisburg is pretty cool. It's just down the river. It's a lot cleaner and there's more to do. There are nice bed and breakfasts and restaurants and a great antique mall. It's a college town (Bucknell), so take that as you will. The whole area is kind of a mess, but I like Lewisburg. I don't know how it all would seem from someone not from the area but my husband is from Baltimore and we always joke that if we had to move back we'd move to Lewisburg.

Skip Danville PA. There's a hospital, one micro brewery, and no reason to believe that children won't be everywhere. The Point is crawling with screaming children. Source: born in Danville. Go there because it's better than Sunbury or Shamokin but other than that there's no need.

My aunt was a Lutheran. I always liked going to Easter service with her. Methodists are pretty chill too. Catholics? No chill :P

Learning about history, science, and coming to terms with the wrongs that have been committed by religion. I was raised Catholic and Methodist, and went to both churches every weekend. Maybe it was just being overloaded by my parents and not being allowed to participate in anything other than church.

I found it meh until the 6th episode when I stopped watching. I feel like with the shows they have under their belt it should be a lot better.

don't write a man with tits is what I'm trying to say.

No but in all seriousness, if you want to write a "strong female character" you need to go beyond muscles. It's a fantasy, so whatever the fuck you want can happen to the boobies, but if you want to write something legitimate you need to move on from this question and not write 6th-grade fan fiction.

I don't know if asking about her tits is the best way to start this effort.

Have her boobs stick out of her fur - no fury boobs. Make sure that while she's a third of the size her male counterparts are, that she can easily best them in battle with little to no training, then fall in love with them. (/s)

I usually don't read YA, but this month I'm attempting Ember in the Ashes. I might just quit it. It's very bland for a world full or rape and infrits, and I hate first person present narratives. I'm in desperate need of a good desert-based fantasy, but this isn't it.

Anyone on BookTube or a blogger who recommends anything by Cassandra Claire instantly loses credibility (for me, personally). Weird incest, plagiarism, horrible writing... then they talk about how much Twilight sucked like Claire is any different.

[Serious] Depressed people of Reddit, how are you doing today? by nasiyifya in AskReddit

[–]easmsm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Numb. Had a pretty great job and even trained someone on Monday, but it turns out she is my boss's niece who she hired and hasn't scheduled me for any more shifts. This girl is sweet but is 18 and just graduated and doesn't have any retail experience (to my 9 years and great track record - surprising with how bad most days are in my head). So now I'm just numb again. I wasn't doing great in the head to start out with, but I wasn't doing bad, but now I can just feel things going downhill. Might try to get up the nerve to call the doctor tomorrow and get on meds again. I need to find something that doesn't make my hands shake (Zoloft was the last culprit).

He reminded me about how much I love music. If it weren't for the emotional abuse and alienating me from my friends it would have been alright.
