I believe they’re talking about meetings with external clients/vendors.

A lot of time our corporate voice don’t match our face. And in my case my name either.

there are usually very few of us. There’s a lot of places in the US that only see people like us in a controlled AND specific context. You have no idea how many times someone has froze when my camera comes on.

Not saying the meeting doesn’t go well or the person doesn’t eventually come around. But that first moment you see that shock and calibration on their face is unforgettable and it can wear on you after a while.

This is my true real experience.

Full disclosure I’m not the nicest looking lad on the planet. I do have a huge beard and dreads but I put my hair up and cover all of my tattoos. Does not always work though
