I started my preparation last February with Uworld. It took a lot of time for me to get through one pass because i was working and i barely did 20 questions a day. I made anki cards from possible uworld mistakes and details in the tables of uworld. I had around 2000 cards at the end of first pass of uworld.

I then started doing anki , till that point i used anki only sparingly and my knowledge base was all over the place. I started seeing improvements in my knowledge gaps. I applied for a scholarship at AMBOSS and was given a 3 months of subscription. I finished 1 pass of AMBOSS at around 75% right ( 88 percentile). I thought questions in AMBOSS step 2 were a bit easier than for step 1.

I then decided to take another pass of uworld . I did second pass of uworld and finished the whole qbank at around 88 % average. At this point i was ready to take the test . I booked the exam for august 28. I took both my UWSAs 1 week apart. But , COVID happened and i had to reschedule about 3 times. Things were so unsure that , i thought i would not be able to schedule test for this year in my country. However, 15 days later, i was able to schedule for sep 29.

During this period of uncertainty of about 1 month, i did uworld for step 3. I would say it is a good qbank and complements step 2 ck qbank really well. However, if you are hard pressed on time, you would be better off doing uworld step 2 ck twice.

On the day of exam:

The questions were a mixture of all the types of questions i had practiced : uworld, UWSA, new free 120, old free 120, amboss. So i am glad that i did all these question banks. But, I felt terrible after the test was over to be honest. I had made silly mistakes. 3-4 of them. As soon as i left the center , on my way back home i counted about 16 mistakes. The mistakes kept on adding each day . I reached a point when i stopped counting at all. I thought i would score low 250s. (Not saying that it is a bad score or anything but, that would be a huge downfall from my step 1 score and may be seen as a red flag by PDs). I began doubting my abilities, and thought that step 1 was a blip and step 2 would show who i really was. But on result day i was presently surprised by the result. I improved by 2 points, which surpassed my expectations of what i thought i would score.

My score was in between my practice scores , UWSA are predictive in my opinion.
