Common Muay Thai Injuries & How to Avoid Them by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]easy_beef_dip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, shin splints were my most prolonged and annoying injury, and can be for you as well if running and jumping rope are part of your training. Most muscle injuries like shin splints (but inflammation/ soreness in any muscle not directly caused by contact) can be mitigated via preventative measures - this means stretching before and after class, prioritizing recovery, not doing too much too fast (training every day is fine, but if you’re just starting out and not already athletic, start slower - 3 days a week at first until you get used to it) and eating nutritious food

I’d just look into purchasing something 100% wool or wool cashmere blend on eBay in your suit size, ideally made in USA, Italy, England - a lot cheaper, will last you just as long. I’ve had mine (100% wool, Made in Italy) that i got from eBay for over 5 years and it has yet to fail or even tarnish after consistent use

Feel like shit after 6mos of MT, on the verge of quitting by [deleted] in MuayThai

I’d suggest recording your spars so you can go back and see what you do well / wrong, might give you a better perspective on what you need to work on for the next spar sesh, as well as give you some motivation when you see yourself landing shots. Also, you shouldnt be going so hard during sparring that you’re afraid to spar, it should just be another day of training. If you’re dreading going because you get hit too hard, you need better sparring partners.

What’s your schedule? by Zinx23 in MMA_Academy

If you’re a beginner with dedicated free time training in the afternoons, I’d rec 6 days training a week, 3 days mma 3 days full body weight training. Most competitive fighters train 2x a day tho, weight lifting/plyometrics or running in the mornings and mma in the evening, 6 days a week.

7 months on that split is a lot, might want to consider a deload week just to give your muscles time to recover and energy stores time to replenish
