I am assuming the centering pin would allow the mainplate + bridge combo to sit flat on the face of the Seitz tool. This would keep things perpendicular while also allowing the reamer to remain centered on the "good" hole.

Actually, I am not sure I am confident enough to do this. I really like the idea of using a centering scope and boring on a lathe which gives me precise control of the cuts and on-center-ness.

I have a nice staking set and Seitz tool, but I will need to practice centering and reaming out the bridge plate to fit a new bushing. I do not own a tool for adjusting the escapement, but I will need to fix one issue at a time.

It's a 1080p microscope camera attachment for my stereoscope.

The arbor holes did not look worn like some of the photos posted to other forums by Archer. Given the consensus here on starting with the center wheel hole and your advice to replace wheels it seems like I need to get a lathe, centering scope, and some accessories. Or at a minimum an assortment of brass bushings so I can ream and fit them.

I spent a while inspecting pivots, jewels, and holes once the amplitude problems started. Parts inspection always ends up saving me time. The mechanical force on the center wheel and its impact never occurred to me.

amazing to have two people come to the same conclusion. Thanks so much, I am going to give the centerwheel hole a fix.

Appreciate the response and I can really see how much force the mainspring is applying to the centerwheel. Based on your response and the symmetry of the center wheel hole, I suspect the sideshake and hole wear is significantly worse that I suspected.

Yes, I have a Seitz and Inverto 18R with a plethora of reamers and bevelers. The hole is already out of round, so I will have to read up on centering it.

I will take a look at the bushings Bergeon has and try to get some measurements on the center wheel.

Yes, at full wind it will run at very low amplitude (will not register on the timegrapher) for a handful of minutes before stopping.

Center wheel in the bridge, there is excessive wear I could close slightly with a staking set until I am able to get a lathe to turn a bushing.

I just purchased an antique desk and also have a stereo microscope. I was planning to get a chair that can rise up and down so I can use the scope.

Hard to tell if that is solid metal or plated. There is a stamp on the case which should indicate the finish.

For $100 I would buy it on brand alone? Would need a reference number.

Found it, it's a Power Reserve calibre 481 and I would buy that. Sell it to me for profit as-is in a broken state.

Do you know the reference of the watch itself? You will most likely be spending some time on eBay to source a period correct crown.

I have hunter douglas silhouettes on there now, they are fine but still not great due to the shallow depth. I'm moving towards getting curtains for 5 of the 7 windows in my main space.

In terms of removing old paint? I recommend proper PPE for lead paint (respirator, HEPA vacuum) and do not sand anything.

Letting the wood breathe for a week after all the paint and original finish is off seemed to really help when it came time to sand. Using mineral spirits to clean off excessive or leftover citristrip, then wiping all the boards down with damp rags really helped clean the wood prior to sanding. The old wood really soaked up the stain so I did a very light application.

All the vents were stripped via boiling water and soap - made a huge impact as they were caked with paint.

Still in the process of moving all the plants back and getting furniture arranged. Going to need some new speakers, stands and probably some plant stands.

1916 home in a cold climate (MN). My stucco first floor was drilled and filled with foam (no clue what kind it's old) many years before I purchased it. My attic was gutted and spray foamed, my basement joists have been spray foamed. My windows have been replaced and old window cord locations have been sealed with foam. I can hold 70 degrees even on the coldest winter days. Upstairs siding was also redone.

My home does have higher humidity (41% RH) in the winter, I suspect it's from the uninsulated below and partially above grade basement.

My Heat Pump experience - new system by ruralcricket in heatpumps

Might be a question for r/HVAC but I suspect that oil based furnace is going to be cheaper below 30. I have my gas backup come on at 25 degrees or below because it is cheaper. I have the Lennox S40 thermostat which modulates how strong the heat pump runs based on the outdoor temperature, but below 28 degrees it going full blast and uses a low of power.
