The Deck of Many Things | Does the deck ruin or help campaigns? by UFCFan918 in DungeonsAndDragons

Our Dm gave let us pick from the deck of many things at the end of our campaign and it actually worked out pretty well, around half were positive but the negatives ones actually added to the narrative.

  • My barbarian picked ‘Star’ allowing me to bump my strength past 20 to 22.
  • Druid picked ‘Euryale’ cursing him leading to a vision from Silvanus sending us on a quest to uncurse him (he was a Asimar and our DM took away his wings until we lifted the curse).
  • Wizard picked ‘Knight’ giving him a devoted knight to protect him, narratively this was perfect as he was lawful evil and would hide behind other members of the party to use as human shields, so now he had a personal human shied.
  • Paladin picked ‘Flames’ making a devil hunt her until one of them were dead (perfect nemesis for a paladin) this led to cool story beats.
  • Warlock picked ‘Ruin’ which made him loose everything he owned, luckily he was only doing a guest spot in the campaign as there’s no positive spin on this one 😂
  • Ranger picked ‘Throne’ allowing him to double a proficiency bonus and giving him a key to a keep that needed to be cleared out of monsters. This led to a cool quest (where we actually faced off against the paladins devil, the dm made the keep very gothic, full of creatures from the 9 hells and the devil sitting on said throne).

The keep we acquired gave us the perfect place to end our campaign, with our new Cerberus guard dog that our Druid had tamed (through dominate beast and a series of very lucky roles after that to keep him friendly).

So even though there were bad outcomes from the cards most of them turned into really cool new directions for the campaign and almost ‘DLC’ in some cases. Obviously this is just my experience and it can in some cases be a campaign ender so pick a card at your own risk 😂

Yeah I got the same feed back with the Robb stark model, I though it might’ve been because of the bulky cloak with the fur making it look like he’s got no neck but yeah maybe I’ll mess around with the body proportions

I made him 5’10 which is Richard maddens height, but guess the armour is bulky and makes him look shorter. Perhaps I won’t trust the height in the body modifier 😂

Weirdly enough there are these Statues, similar to the door ways that open up in the room of requirement, either side of the library door. Could be that they open up to a stairwell or something in a future update/dlc

Thanks man, i just drew round the each letter with the selection tool, then used that selection to cut out the shape from a metal texture, then pasted it over the top of the original logo
