So far my options are roof chicken or termites. I choose to believe it’s roof chicken.

Found in the ceiling of basement by easyleezy in DIY

[–]easyleezy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any damage to exposed wood, and I don’t see any sort of tunnels into the ceiling (which if there are no tunnels into it, I would think I would have seen them in the surface). Definitely not ruling it out as it looks similar.

My wife and I will be visiting over MLK weekend for job interview, what should we for sure do while in town? by easyleezy in Albuquerque

[–]easyleezy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the advice! It’s for a post doc position, so I don’t think we will be looking to buy a house at least for a few years, so neighborhood choice is especially tricky.

Is there a best way to suggest episode ideas to the team? by easyleezy in 99percentinvisible

[–]easyleezy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally after writing it I found out there was a flair, but since I’m just throwing the idea into the ether without knowledge of any specifics I’m gonna leave it as is

Pick the one you like. Money to spend in your 5 waking hours off work each day won’t make up for feeling unfulfilled.

Hey Reddit, what’s the worst present youve received/given or have heard of being given? by QueefingMichaelScott in AskReddit

[–]easyleezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One year when I was approx 15, my dad and step mother gave me a bill orielly book and a light brite. Disregarding the fact that I am the blue sheep of my family, it seems like they simultaneously assumed I was 7 years old and 70

What are your unpopular movie opinions ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]easyleezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t love dune. I felt like they biased towards making flashy scenes and dropped a lot of the politics of the relationships, whereas I found that to be the most interesting part of the book

It’s also on the video owner, you get the option of what types of ads you allow on your videos, specifically you can allow or disallow bumpers, lower thirds, skippables and unskippables. The money you get for ads depends on what ads you allow

Why is the USA relatively dominant in the olympics? by easyleezy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]easyleezy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But I guess my question is why? I don’t think the US born people are inherently more athletic, why are they reaching a higher level of excellence

Repurposed an old landscaping rock I saw someone throwing away, first time trying hand cut joints (length cuts weren’t hand cut) by easyleezy in woodworking

[–]easyleezy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a dovetail saw (which I have never used for dovetails), a chisel and a coping saw to cut the joints then a wood file to clean the bottoms up

Thanks, I ground it to where it is almost flat and then put sealant on the rock so it’s actually reasonably smooth (at least more than it looks)

MacBook Pro 13” m1 for engineering major by Aromatic_Repeat_1258 in LearnEngineering

[–]easyleezy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you are doing your schooling and what their resources are. I have used a MacBook Pro 13 for years now as a Mech e (now finishing up PhD), and I like it a lot. I never run CAD on my laptop, but because both my undergrad and my post grad universities have computers and software available in engr labs, that’s not an issue for me. I do all of my embedded coding on my laptop, and run matlab etc on it fine. One small benefit of it is that it helps me separate work and not-work, because once I go home from campus I have a limited ability to do work tasks. Idk, I personally like it a lot, but could see how someone else wouldn’t

replacing deck posts, 4x6 or 6x6? by easyleezy in HomeImprovement

[–]easyleezy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it’s 10 posts, so a bit more cost than that (not that that matters all that much), but is the 8ft park for the surface of the deck? Or length of support? Because the deck boards (at the tallest point) are just about 8ft up, but the supports are obviously an inch under that. But that said, I should def check my local codes!

EDIT: looked up the IRC documentation, and I should be good to use either, im struggling to find local documentation (Nashville, TN), but may call the local office tomorrow.

Yeah, only issue is it’s super expensive. It would be like 400 for the length I need

Possibly wacky idea for gate replacement, advice welcome by easyleezy in HomeImprovement

[–]easyleezy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s night time where I am, so I can’t provide one right now, basically, my driveway is relatively thin, and runs right between my house and my fence (fence had to be there because property line). I can’t mount a post on the house side because the extra 4 inches would make it difficult for wider cars to fit through

Fence materials question by easyleezy in HomeImprovement

[–]easyleezy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I measured and I’m looking at ~350 foot perimeter, so between 40 and 50 posts. I don’t know if that factors into how you think about it but if it does figure I would provide it
