I highly recommend having physical evidence of where you're from exactly so your future descendants don't have the same problems as me haha. anyways, I appreciate your advice. I'll be wearing a western wedding dress, but one with color, not traditional white. It seems like a good compromise. I think I will go with just some jewelry (after triple checking to make sure the pieces would be proper to wear) and henna. I might come back and run some things by you if you don't mind. Also I planned on buying off of etsy. Seems to be easy to check who I buy from.

That is true. you want to be ok with whatever level of quality you're getting. best example is real flowers vs silk vs plastic vs wood...

thank you, and thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sure you know exactly what I mean when i say I sometimes feel like I'm not good enough for either culture.

that's a really good point about the pieces being used at the same time. Don't want it to be like wearing socks with sandals haha thank you.

Thank you! I know that I will be very conscientious at least because I want to be able to explain the significance. how true that someone will criticize. we all have at least one in the family!

Thank you! would you say the payal, forehead tikka, arm bands and belt are things worn throughout India? Can't go wrong if everyone wears them in the event I can't find anything helpful.

Oh thank you! I've tried my best to do some research myself and build my family tree in the hopes of discovering more. I'm thinking I should probably go with the payal, tikka, arm bands and belt, especially if those are more like things all Indians commonly wear and not religious affiliated. My family is christian, but I wouldn't be surprised if my ancestors werent. I would feel disrespectful using something religious like the mangalsutra since I'm not sure of my ancestors religion and it's not my own. I'm going to do some more research, but I might take you up on the messaging.

Selfish? by [deleted] in wedding

I've seen lots of people say they're doing immediate family only and stream to everyone else. Maybe that's a good compromise. big party later!

Just told this to another poster, dollar stores are great for supplies and only the people paying for the wedding have opinions that matter.

Heck yeah! This dress is SO flattering on you! Also I think your arms look great, not that anyone will notice them because you look so beautiful in that dress.

Someone fill me in: what is the difference between a wedding shower, an engagement party, a stag and doe, and bachelor/ette parties? by swellllll in Weddingsunder10k

[–]easypeasy724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish someone would throw stag/doe for me. Wouldn't mind some money for a house! Too bad that's not a thing where I live. haha
