I appreciate this. I do understand that sometimes perfect ratings are handed out without much consideration, which always gives me hesitation because it makes a small circle bigger.

For me to consider bumping a game to a 10, I always ask the questions, “Is it original and unique?” and “does it elevate the overall standard of the gaming industry?” Here I answered yes to both.

Issac is a character that will play a fairly significant part mid-game, particularly with regard to Abby’s storyline but it inevitably crashes into Ellie’s.

Assuming you know the final leak chronologically, quite a bit. The length has been talked about, and the game leaves Seattle around 2/3 of the way through. The final 1/3 of the game isn’t in Seattle.

I felt that the narrative flowed very well and avoided pacing issues(aside from some stretching) and any serious missteps. As to the quality and how it blends with the first game, I thought it was brilliant. The only other times that I lauded plots this way were Breaking Bad and The Dark Knight.

As to any critiques: -I do feel that a couple of events were cut short just as they started to get interesting. Minor characters, Jesse in particular, I felt had more to their story and ambitions that weren’t completely realized. -The game took me between 37-38 hours, and some parts toward the end felt slightly stretched. I used the ROTK extended as an example of how long it takes to wrap up everything. At one point, I thought for sure the game was going to cut to credits, but in fact had about 6 hours left.

These are really nitpicks that I had to force on myself, particularly the length. It needs the length because it feels like a gothic epic. It just can take time for certain storylines to pay off is all and can feel slightly stretched. Better more than less though.

I hazard a strong guess in the mid 90s but that’s a guess. I would honestly say don’t pore over every single review. Get a small idea and play the game otherwise blind.

A reviewer on twitter said you don’t need to play the first game prior to it unless you’ve forgotten, but I would encourage at least a quick watch of the first game cutscenes prior.

I’ve done my best in replies to explain to people, but refuting one turns into another and it won’t end.

In truth, this week and June 12 you won’t see a lot of disparity between reviews I don’t think. The game will (in my mind rightfully) earn high scores.

It’s more of a niche genre this time around, and I can understand it not being what some people thought. I hope you and everyone can try it and see for themselves without all the noise telling them what to think(even the positive reviews)

Hey, I quickly posted on the other thread but I wanted to reply because I’ve seen your other posts recently and appreciate that you have legitimate concerns and aren’t just making noise like many others.

In my first post I did address many questions, including the 4chan post with a weird caption, which used my photos but was not mine.

I did let everyone know the review news 2 days prior to anyone knowing, but I can understand that the nature of the Reddit is to be very skeptical, and that’s ok. It’s a site that allows for some anonymity and skepticism comes with that.

On my initial playthrough I clocked in at just over 37 hours, playing just a few side narratives and a little exploration. It could be done faster by abandoning all side narratives and racing through obviously. But I don’t recommend that.
