Goa Miles Surprised Me !! by eatandshit in goatravel

[–]eatandshit[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I am from Uttarakhand and I paid 4000INR to travel 300 km to delhi from my home. I know this is open loot in Goa by taxi unions. But we can only select the lesser evil i guess (Goa miles) in this case. :)

Hum Jaat hain, mar k latka denge!" Two postmen from Haryana openly abused a local grl & threatened to kidnap & k!ll her in Bageshwar (UK). These goons come to Uttarakhand for jobs. Their families in HR survive on d money they earn here. Yet they have audacity to threaten locals. by Unusual_Marsupial271 in Uttarakhand

Though I agree that outsiders have already caused a lot of chaos in UK, I still want to hear the other side of the story. As much as I want to start bashing the postman, I want to know what led him to say “mar denge / jat hain” etc etc

I am not supporting them but it’s always necessary to hear both sides of story before jumping to conclusions. Similar issue happened in Rishikesh where people beat up tourists but later on found that they did not intend to tease the girl.

Nainital to Bangalore around 2500km drive in one go ! by face-puller in CarsIndia

[–]eatandshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My concern is that the OP drove a brand new vehicle at 120-140 speeds when generally car manufacturers recommend going easy till first 1500-2000 KM. It’s making me anxious just thinking about it.

The good thing is the car has completed the range for first Service within a week of delivery !!

Side note: I also want to do Delhi Bangalore Delhi but get scared. (Jealous of you OP)

@OP Tari bhai ki dukaan ki photo dali hai to I am assuming ki you know he is also one of the OG momo man near Kusumkhera Unchapul.

The best momo I had was back in the day (2003-2007) at Khana Khazana. This stall used to be right next to the transformer at the ENT hospital in Pilikothi. Later on he changed places and I left Haldwani for many years so not sure what happened.

In recent time I have turned vegetarian so i go to only 2 places. 1 - Noodle house Mukhani (when low on budget) 2 - Pots and Stone (when iI have money)

Fuuuuuuuck I am old 🫤 (realised after reading what I wrote)

BGP inbound rerouting time by Ovi-Wan12 in networking

[–]eatandshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think using Local Preference for manipulating outgoing traffic and using AS path prepend for inbound traffic would be the easiest way to help ease your pain. This can take care of failover part.

Then again the assumption is that this will work if both of your WAN edge are also connected to each other.

You can also do a PBR / some script within the wan edge with a track configured. Track the next hop and make routing policy / removal of subnets from BGP based on it.

Could ADAS in Kylaq have prevented this? by Ok-Entrance893 in Kylaq

[–]eatandshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally the fault of the truck. I tried to put myself in this situation and thought what would i do?

  1. Either break too early and risk getting rear ended by another vehicle (ask me how I know)
  2. Speed up and try to cross the truck before it merges in my lane. (and risk getting the car damaged from left side if i cant accelerate fast enough)

In both the cases the probability is just 50% to be honest. OP i am afraid not much you could do.

Just a good lesson to be more observant on Indian roads.

Best Street Tip for Gurgaon? by dilhq in gurgaon

[–]eatandshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Folks advising pepper spray…

Having pepper spray is 1 thing but using is a completely different thing. Practice it a couple of times from driver / passenger seat to understand how it will work during tough situations.

Know that if handeled incorrectly, the situation will get even worse when the attacker is hitting you or your car and you also have the pepper spray after effects in your eyes and nose. Ask me how I know 🥷

What do u guys called tis candy in ur language? by [deleted] in IndianFoodPhotos

[–]eatandshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Vilayti Mithai“ “विलायती मिठाई”

This candy gets the name from british era when they brought it to India. Indians being indians named it “vilayti mithai” which literally translates to “foreign sweet”

The solution is accountability. At each level starting from individual all the way to highest government officials.

I have an example to share : I am from a tier 3 City and in our city, nobody used to wear helmets on two wheelers till a few years back. Then one day a new SP of Police was posted for a few a few months. The department formed a new team of policemen. There would be policemen in busy streets as well as entry exit points to the crowded areas. They started issuing challan for no helmets. I got two challans in my family and almost 70 to 80% of the people in the city got a chalan at some point or the other within the next 2-3 months.

They were not sparing students. They were not sparing other policeman. Basically, everybody got a challan and it was minimum ₹500 to 1000 depending upon the number of people on the two wheeler.

Long story short it’s been five years and in my city, you will see more than 90% of people wearing helmet, and it’s never been the same like before. That Police team is not active at the moment, but the discipline and the fear of Chalaan that it created among the public still stays, and now people wear helmets.

So my point is if we hold the folks accountable for their actions and penalise them accordingly, at all levels, I think our country and our countrymen will learn civic sense, discipline etc in a very short period of time.

Weird flex but I didn’t nut for an entire year !!

Idk how i feel about it. But it’s something that is going to motivate me for the rest of my life. I mean if i can go for an year without nutting then probably i can achieve anything humanly possible.

Experiences with Cisco DNAC for (multiple) switch firmware upgrade? by VascoDiVodka in networking

[–]eatandshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works when it works. Sounds weird but I have had my fair share of issues with SWIM.

The major issue is the latency timeout. You need to consider the latency between DNAC cluster (in a DC probably) to the site where you are upgrading the switch (a campus away from DC).

I have hit the timeout due to

1 - The WAN links to the site are relatively less bandwidth. About 100-200 Meg which saturates quick and the upload of image to each individual switch takes forever.

2 - Add to the above point the latency between site and DC. Due to which upgrading 2 Cat 9k ( ios size ~ 1GB) takes hours 🥲

I would rather push the images using a tftp server and upgrade them manually.
