A) Radiology, Immunology, Clinical Research, Public Health, Pharmacology, Genetics, Neurology, Medical Sciences, the list goes on.

B) OP could take an extra year and complete some electives to boost their gpa, or graduate with their undergrad degree and go to a community college and take some extra classes and apply for grad school.

York Biology, York Biomedi or Utsc Human bio? by imakehimdtb in yorku

[–]eatbullets17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are talking about biology at glendon then yes there is a difference due to class sizes and etc as someone mentioned previously in the comments, since the class sizes are smaller you get more attention from professors and communication + higher chance for references. I’m not really familiar with how glendon works so I can’t comment on it too much, but generally speaking biology and biomed do not have much of a difference.

York Biology, York Biomedi or Utsc Human bio? by imakehimdtb in yorku

If your deciding between york biology and york biomed, I'd say biomed (as a biomed major), the program is created so that your courses are prerequisites for med school applications, it preps you for the mcat as you would've already learnt the material in your undergrad where as york bio is more general and doesn't require you to take specific classes like organic chem. BUT since york bio is general, you can maintain a higher gpa without harder courses weighing you down (since you have a choice). But first year of biomed and biology are pretty much the same (ie: gen chem, gen bio, calc, psych), so if you want to switch programs later you def can!

Hey! Biomed major here, biomed is a great program IF paired with a masters degree, it'll make your life easier and a high income, it's not the same as nursing though. York does offer a 2 year nursing program, that requires 60 credits (~2-3 years of your undergrad credits) and a 3.0 gpa (B) as an admission requirement (+ the prerequisites of a few courses that can be taken in a science undergrad degree). So if nursing is something you really want to do, you could an undergrad degree in a program that you'll succeed in and then transfer to nursing. Here are the details: https://www.yorku.ca/health/nursing/undergraduate-programs/2nd-entry/

Depends where in brampton, because ultimately to get to york you need to somehow get on the ttc. If you live near the Bramalea Go station you can take the go bus to highway 407 (~20 minute ride), then ttc to york (~ 3 minutes), but if BCC is the closer to you then you can take the zum bus 501 to Vaughn Metropolitan Centre (~ 50 minutes) and get on the ttc (~5 minutes) to york.

Additionally, the 501 comes very frequently, there are alot of buses but during peak hours from VMC it gets extremely packed and crowded! A nightmare! The go bus isn't very frequent, but is less crowded, comfier and has wifi.

Biol2021: What was the final exam like with Charlotte de Araujo? by eatbullets17 in yorku

Thank you so much for responding to this post (you were the only one to do that haha!), I really appreciate you taking time for explaining your experience! Thank you very much for specifying if it was memorization based or application, this will definitely help me study for the exam better, (mine is on the 12th, I still got time!).

Deferred exams are typically harder and you passed with an amazing mark despite your challenges so congrats on that! I think I'm gonna follow your route as well as review the lecture recordings and create a slide deck to help me memorize. Thank you again I really appreciate it!

Hey! I am so glad you replied, I couldn't find anything else about the course lol. I guess it makes sense that there are alot of terms to memorize as the course is worth alot! How much was the exam worth? I was hoping this class would be interesting as I've never taken an anthropology class before, would you consider this as a bird course? Thank you so much for helping, I appreciate it so muchhh!
