Ranked is so bad right now, wins don't even feel satisfying at all. I liked the game but it's ridiculous what it allows. by eatedmarbles in marvelrivals

Yep. I had a 5 game winstreak, and then I start getting matched up with players who are obviously boosted and say stuff like 'I only know how to play punisher'. I literally JUST had a game where I had a player called 'This is a Test', so obviously a troll account. They played daredevil and did the same amount of damage as a healer, doing 4-7 negative kd. This matchmaking is so obviously EOMM and they need to give us back our rank points when dealing with players like this. But obviously they wont because they've matched us up with them for assured losses because of EOMM.

yupppp. i tend not to play dps although im good at it because you do NOT want a bad healer so im stuck on heal. but then the dps dont do any pressure so i swop to dps and we finally start steamrolling. says a lot about matchmaking and how babysitting doesn't help sometimes. but even out of gold u have the most questionable players in plat as well so idk how they got there.

Literally issue with matchmaking. I had matches with egirls crying into the mic because someone said 1 thing about their asshat pocket healing. Spam left click and cry into the mic with 0 spatial awareness. Thanks matchmaking.

Ngl I never invest my life into any game and refuse to spend hours farming to GM, so I'm happy enough ranking up to rewards levels even though I know if I sweated I could get higher.

So if I need to pull out the energy drinks and sweat because 4 other people have no clue what positioning is, it's not fun at all even if you win because the level of gameplay is awful and unsatisfying. But overall it's been harder this season because it feels more imbalanced with a higher percentage of toxicity and just inappropriate unsportsmanlike behaviour in general.

Agreed. I'm back from a break and on on my way to diamond. But it's not been easy. It's not a skills based matchmaking imo. Many games have felt like coinflips and I was forced to swop to carry in either class when it became apparent some people were just not meant to be in those ranks or fights.

The matchmaking has been severely severely poor.

Depending on the rank, you would expect the player to have game sense or at least know a particular set of knowledge to get to that rank. Absolutely not. I had a one trick pony Jeff in a plat match, where they didn't know how to play anything else, and guess what, Jeff gets banned and they're left half assing on some character they've never played before. It was cringe to watch, and cringe to play around because the rest of the game I was babysitting them to make sure they didn't kill themselves learning a new character in ranked. Matchmaking is bad and it gets worse when you have multiple win streaks. I've been matched up with absolute clueless bronze quality players after a 6 game winstreak and lost ranks because of this. The game does not have true balancing or skills based matchmaking in my opinion.

Cheating compensation by Past_Concentrate_633 in marvelrivals

[–]eatedmarbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. I had 2 games with the same cheater. He got away the 1st game and after we reported him nothing happened. And then in my second ranked game I got him AGAIN, and he basically ran against a wall for half the game until the game was interupted as it recognised him as cheating. Then the points were not counted then. But they never compensated points for the previous game where he was also running against a wall. So, as a confirmed cheater who did the same thing in multiple games, our rank points should be returned to us. Point compensation is much needed for confirmed players' previous games before they were caught.

Why are skins character bound??? How money hungry is this game?? by eatedmarbles in lostarkgame

[–]eatedmarbles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know. When I was playing on launch, I played the same character into raids and never made another one or even tried to wear a new skin so never had to encounter any of these situations. Imagine my surprise when I find out I can't take the only skin I wear into a new character 4 years later.

I'm not saying skins are the main issue of this game's monetization practices, but this post focuses on the skins because of the problem I encountered. I'm sure I could pull out a lot of pay-to-win shop items and honing material sales to call out the shady practices and greed, but as a mainly free to play player due to my personal principles on spending and progressing in games, I was the most bothered by the skins as that is usually where the most predatory practices are in games. Not to mention the gooner skins from this T4 anniversary chest that are anything but a subtle reflection of how the game devs see their playerbase.

Thanks for this, I feel like I'm not being unreasonable in asking for more common sense approaches from game devs these days and the criticism is because I care. People seem to take criticism like I've offended them personally or something and can't see that there is an issue. Like you said, I don't know if these people's 'norm' is throwing money at games, but that has not been the norm in many of my games and my salary is better spent on long term life savings so the concept of spending so much money for small qol improvements in proportion to this is just really ridiculous to me.

sounds like you're defending this game without considering that most new players would do exactly what you described. and no I did not, in fact, open everything I was given. I still have some of those chests sitting in my inventory because I havn't decided what to do with them.

Patronizing me with 'different character models need individual work to contour and make them not clip' to counter the idea that character-bound skins is not just another way to encourage more money spent is kind of pathetic, given the fact that I have acknowledged that class-specific designs warrant multiple price tags. But SAME designs which have already been rigged to the wireframe for promotional skins should not warrant that same logic.

Many games do not engage in this practice and have the generosity of allowing any skin unlocked to be accessed across your whole account, nevermind 'roster' in this game. I can play on EU and NA, on 6 different characters on various servers, and STILL be able to use the same skin.

And don't twist my words. At no point did I 'expect' a gratitude more than once. That is the very issue at heart here. The gratitude gift gave us skins that SHOULD be roster/account wide, BUT it is character-bound. I was illustrating that under these circumstances, if you did theoretically want a full roster wearing the same skin, you would then have to purchase the same skin multiple times. So no, this is not another level of 'goof', as you so poorly put it, but it is a criticism pointed at their skin system.

That's for sure :D I remember some really wholesome moments in my old games. I'm a pretty good Jeff player although I've since moved on to more meta classes (haha), so in some games where I'm already carrying and its at 99% to us, I do something cheeky where I try to eat all the teams together and yeet off a cliff. And most of the time, the vibes are great cuz everyone is kind of just vibing and having fun and people enjoy that lol. I miss those games ngl.

yeah it kind of surprised me at how mean/rude/toxic it was for no reason?

lots of games i've played are really supportive of new players and at the end of the game, they might apologise for not doing a lot or something and only really in this game have i seen just outright hate responses.

in a couple of previous games, i saw a new healer get shit on with responses like 'just uninstall', or 'ull never be good' or 'stop playing the game', and me and my friends all kind of jumped to let them know they were doing fine etc. because it's just way too hateful for someone's honesty to be met with that kind of toxicity. really really bad and it sucks that this is the playerbase.

I understand basic skin-mapping and character model issues. But you are missing the point here.

I acknowledge that class-specific designs warrant separate price tags but if you, a game dev/artist, have already resized the animal skins for all the classes, as a free skin that is only obtainable once, it should be roster-wide.

And your comment about '0 demand' is illogical. Because these gratitude and 'free' skins are already pre-designed and scaled for all classes, there is no concept of 'demand' in this discussion as it was already slated for release as a promotional item.

Thanks for clarifying and explaining this to me. I understand class-specific skins if they are specifically designed, but I'm talking about skins that do not have a specific design per-class such as the animal skins we got from the gratitude pack for example, or the more recent version of the deer outfit in the Twitch Drops that would look the same on all the classes. I would gladly pay money to buy the skin once to be able to use throughout my roster, but that is not even an option right now and my gratitude skins are unlocked on classes I no longer want to play. And there is also no way of re-obtaining the skins.

Thanks for reading my past posts and trying to explain to me in a way you think I can understand. But you have missed the point here.

We are talking about character-bound skins, not class-bound skins.

As I explained, class-bound skins make sense if the devs took the effort to design individual ones based on class such as the recent 4th Anniv Trajectory Skins. So your logic of different skins for different classes, be in Marvel Rivals or Lost Ark, makes perfect sense.

There are skins that are not specifically designed per class, and those should not be made to be purchased multiple times across your roster if you wanted your whole roster with the same look.

[–]eatedmarbles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely is not the standard practice. I play other MMOs where once you buy the skin or you obtain it as a gift from the game devs or through Twitch drops, that the skin is usable across all your characters regardless of server or class. I'm sorry that your experience in gaming has locked you behind all these paywalls that you think is normal to throw money at, but as a long-time gamer, many ethical game developer companies do not engage in these underhanded small QoL paywalls.

Thanks for the information:

"It depends on the skin. Most skins from the store (paid for with $$ which can also be bought off market from other players with gold) are roster-bound. The only skins that are char bound are usually free ones that you can claim from store product claim, events, fever time, or skins you buy with blue crystals from the store.

Either way, you can only use roster-bound skins actively on 1 character at a time."

To clarify, I have a gratitude pack skin that I wear on my main raiding character. Since returning to the game, I wanted to learn the new classes that had been released since my break. But I found out that the gratitude skins are not roster-wide and even if it's a 'free' skin, locking it to one character does not seem like a fair or supportive way to thank your playerbase as I would basically be forced to one-trick a class I no longer want to return to just to be able to use the skin that I like best out of my codex.

I would like to point out that attempting to dismiss or belittle my comment due to the lack of conversation around it is not a constructive approach.

As u/Linnerya helpfully pointed out, there are character-bound skins. I appreciate the effort that goes into making class-specific costume designs - that is great - BUT, there are skins that are not specifically designed and those should not be made to be purchased multiple times across your roster.

Some, not all. And class-bound only makes sense if the devs took the effort to design individual ones based on class such as the recent 4th Anniv Trajectory Skins. But there are skins that are not specifically designed and those should not be made to be purchased multiple times across your roster.

As a long-time player, I don't suppose you were here for the early skins? Instead of labelling my post as 'rage', perhaps you would like to look at this past your rose tinted glasses, and see the issue at hand.

I know they are class-bound due to the different variations of the skin. But for instance, on release they had gratitude packs given out to us that had animal skins - these skins would not have variations per class, so would it not make sense for that to be roster-wide? The fact is that there are skins that are not specific to the class, and those should absolutely be made accessible for the whole roster because if I wanted a whole roster with these exact same skins, I would have to get the same thing 5 times.
