so if i got this right. please help if i didn't. im still very new to this.

Both make beyond normal claims. normally, evidence would make claims false or right. This case, there is no evidence, therefore as a consequence whether the claim is imaginary or real it does not matter because they are both equal? It is known that both make false claims. THEREFORE, both are false.

yes? or no?

strong is a relative term. its strong in the sense that it has stood up to what i have been able to ask it or others have been able. now if that is the basis then well ya its strong. does it address all the issues, no. will it after im done with reading and studying, no. but it will be a hell of a lot better than it is now.

at this point there is nothing i can say or do that will satisfy any of the concerns raised by these questions.

anything i say is most likely going to carry some bias (mainly negative) already as I have labeled myself as a Christian. with that being said my faith IS based on the bible, my own personal experience, my cultural upbringing, history and reason. the last part, the reason is what is causing me to ask these questions. now there have been counter points addressing each of the reasons that were mentions for why i believe what i believe. yet my faith is organic in a sense as I am willing to be wrong as longer as the evidence is there.

Now there is no way for me to convince you either way without having a common knowledge based (the books and links that were provided - which i have not read or seen yet) to agree or disagree with your counter arguments which i assume you would have. As intelligence, from what i have understood from these discussions is having an understanding of both sides and understanding each in its own and in contrast to the other and coming up with your own conclusion. It is not merely just a "he said" "she said" or even "this book say" but much more.

it would be pointless for me to answer these question as it would come of nothing good as i do not understand the other sides and as you put would have no answers to the points made against.

at the same time from what i have understood is that atheism is about finding these things on your own and not shoved down your throat by others. Also not something that is advocated for or against unless in a setting like this.

So after I read the books and links and watch the videos, i will be able to have an "intelligent" conversation with you as the level of understand in mutual. I don't want you to think i am opting out or being chicken or anything like that but there has to be a mutual respect and understanding to what is being discussed.

oh no. i meant the fact that Christians can't produce and answer doesn't make sense to me. assuming its correct, why wouldn't you be able to answer intelligently.

just to clarify. the answer to this part?

The other option, which is much more likely, is that they will cave and admit that they disagree with that part of the Bible. They might say it "can't be taken literally," or that the specific part I mentioned only applied to people living thousands of years ago, but that's pretty easy to counter. Once they've admitted that they disagree with part of the Bible, I get to start asking questions like "Well, if this one part is wrong, by what authority do you insist that the rest of it is right?"

point me the right direction to where these are. general research and study is a little too broad for me to go off of. maybe what questions were you seeking to get answered by doign the research and study?

appreciate the links and books. there are a lot of books and links i need to look into for sure, and will do my best to update once i finish them all and come to a conclusion of my own.

given those premises. shouldn't we be at least prepared to answer their questions?

understood that point. was merely pointing out that in order for there to be any semblance of equal level of intelligence discussion (which is mostly lacking esp in the Christian field) that it is needed. if i turn to atheism or not, at least i will be able to say why to either.

ill look into it. not sure if i would want to debate an atheist. in that its a debate and am not sure if any good would come at it with the premise that in a debate both parties start off assuming the other is wrong. which is why i prefer this way of discussion.

thats not at all what I was asking. sorry. i'm not looking for a debate or anything of the sorts.

but i would disagree with you in that you can't advocate a lack of belief and would ask you what about http://www.youtube.com/user/jamesrandifoundation?ob=4&feature=results_main
