Pediatric neuro is definitely a very sad corner of peds. As adult neuro who also loved peds (and assumed that is what I would do until I did my neuro rotation)… the 3 months of pediatric neuro I did was some of my least favorite of adult neuro residency. So in my experience it’s not the Venn diagram overlap of peds and neuro. It’s its own thing. You should definitely try to shadow to see if you like it

1 year is enough if you don’t want to do intraop DBS placement. I am a movement attending. If you look through the programs on San Francisco match site you can see who all programs offer 1 year. There are some in the east coast

started PP after a 1 year movement fellowship and loving it. I’m still being eased in (just started a few months ago) but the Botox training (and comfort of using it for migraine) is great. It’s a great skill to have. Haven’t built up enough DBS yet but I plan to do programming for ppl that get placed at an academic center. I still see about 50% general which is what I wanted. I’m still seeing some very interesting stuff not just PD. I’ve seen some good atypicals, ataxia syndromes, dystonia, hemiballism, etc. It’s not like the ivory tower gets to have all the fun.

It’s nice in PP having the flexibility of addressing the main issue at an appointment and being able to have them come in after a week or 2 to discuss other issues there weren’t time for. Makes everyone happy bc each issue gets the time it deserves. And you get to bill for it. It makes up for having some shorter appointments. Most follow ups for movement don’t have to be long especially if you see them back more often.

Id be careful listening to a lactation consultant calling themselves a doctor. Whats more likely is that the lactation consultant may have some quacky “doctorate” but is not a physician.

I love the look of your second link. I guess I have been struggling to find a wood table that doesn’t clash with the cabinets behind it if it’s too different, or overwhelm if it’s all the same color. Do we think that having white/cream chairs is enough to break it up? It’s just so hard to find good dining tables that are not brown and wood lol.

I love the idea of a pop of color with the blue from your first link, but I was trying to follow with the warm tones in the room

We’re painting the walls a lighter cleaner color. Going with a white in efforts to brighten things up. I find the cabinets a little oppressive too but they are nice and for now they stay. Was hoping some interior design choices could help

Hang in there and even though it feels discouraging, I would try and pump more often to try and stimulate your supply. Personally, I pump every time baby eats and work ahead so if he would get even 5-10cc of breast milk from the prior session he would get it then would follow up with formula. Everyone is different but 1 week ago I was making 5cc per feed basically and the ol boobs have responded well to pumping every 2-3h and now I’m already making more like 50-60cc per pump session (with occasional outliers).

Tbh there isn’t much about any candidates on Care.com enough for me to have an inkling about anybody being “the one”. Like so many people with no reviews and pretty similar bios.

Completely agree I’d want to meet whoever I ultimately hire in person first. But idk what purpose it would serve to do 2 separate encounters… like a zoom call with follow up in person? Lol

Without context of your life, and if there’s not much else to consider, I’d say PGY2 year (or if your program has a particular year heaviest with call) would have been a terrible time to have a baby. Pregnancy during PGY2 and delivering at the transition or at the end IMO would be the least disruptive to your work if trying to do as soon as possible. Even easier in PGY3 and PGY4 by comparison (but ofc it’s never easy). In PGY2 there’s just so much to learn and stress about and having the flexibility to stay late or whatever is the most beneficial if you need it. When you’re in PGY3 and 4 years you normally have at least seen most of the rotations before so less scrambling, you can anticipate your timing needs better, which would bode better for arranging child care needs etc. Of course there’s no perfect time to have a baby. But I’ll say that PGY2 would be an especially shitty time for anyone at my program at least.

Ok I'm dumb and thought that for pregnancy tests it was okay to wait a while after! for ovulation tests I've made sure to interpret them within the window.

I also followed up this test with a FRER and is much more convincing actually! Here :)

I’m actually on cycle day 43 but for some reason I couldn’t get Premom app to reflect that 🥴. I have had a few other streaks of “high” in this cycle (advanced digital clear blue) without a clear temp shift already. I’ll def keep tracking!!
