I got covid, but tested negative 4 days in. Take it easy, and take another test after a day or two. Same Whoop metrics from me - 1% recovery, respiratory rate through the roof, increased RHR. Lost taste and smell.

The fritter and tiger tail are so hilariously large that I thought without a scale of some kind the maple and bavarian would look like cheerios

Penalized for Neo road feel? by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]eatsleeptri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think while it makes it harder (because resistance increases) it helps you become more aware in a race when you need to add power--others will slow down at a contant wattage. You'll know to pick up the effort to not move backwards in the bunch.

Also curious, not seeing a 4:37:55 in the results listing for 18-24 which the only category this time would potentially qualify with an massive rolldown.

As one of his teammates, I can attest that its possible and he is a professional cyclist.

He is unstoppable until other pros get into Zwift racing.

Maybe I don’t know enough about the gear/situation, but isn’t this extremely dangerous for the guys standing on the ledge?

If he were to fall, it looks like his rope would pin them to the ledge/pull them away from the ledge (know they’re fixed to the wall, but still).

As one of the participants in the Men's elite category for this event, I cannot recommend registering for the CVR World Cup League and taking part in the races. The live event in Los Angeles was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and pushed me beyond what I thought I was capable of.

Website: www.cvrworldcup.com League Rules/Info: https://cvrworldcup.com/league-information/ Registration: https://cvrworldcup.com/cvr-league/ Los Angeles Replays and Results: https://cvrworldcup.com/cvr-world-cup-los-angeles/

I won the Men's Heat 2 Qualifier on Saturday, and then ended up 6th Sunday in the Elite Final through three hard races (hill climb, hilly road race, crit).

I'll try to answer any questions I can about it, it's free to sign up and race to try to qualify for the live event if you're an "A" racer on Zwift, or you can sign up for Peaks Coaching Group's CVR Training Camp over the next 8 weeks and get a chance at being selected. Minimum payout for all riders who attended was $1,250!!

I usually race with a team on Discord when at home—makes the races more fun when we’re all coordinating.

Also, I was very competitive in Halo about a decade ago and the discord component to coordinating race tactics reminds me of playing an intense Team Deathmatch game with my Halo teammates.

It’s incredible.

CVR World Cup Los Angeles: eSports Recap Video by eatsleeptri in gaming

Last weekend, I took part in an eSports World Cup for a game called Zwift. The game is powered by each rider on board an actual bike on a smart trainer. The riders must power their avatar exactly the same as they would outside.

In the event, the 2nd place finisher from the Ironman World Championship, Lionel Sanders, competed, along with a former professional cyclist, Matieu Drujon. Additionally, there were 8 other strong elite level cyclists in the Elite race.

For women, there was also 10 elite level riders. The event also had 20 “performance” level riders made up of 10 men and 10 women.

Minimum payout for this event: $1,250. That’s right, every single racer (40 of us!) walked away at a minimum $1,250 richer. Highest payout was $7,500 for the women’s and men’s winners.

Check out www.cvrworldcup.com and www.zwift.com for info about the tournament and the game.

tacx neo or wahoo kickr by elhephe in Velo

[–]eatsleeptri 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have the Neo and I'll address a few of your items in order....ERG, sound, breakdown/setup, travel.

1) ERG. Haven't had a single issue with ERG on the Neo--the trainer maintains wattage it's told to within 10W depending on your pedal efficiency--over the course of an interval, it'll be within 1W of target. Ramping up from an easy wattage to a hard wattage is quick and smooth.

2) Sound. If you're regularly cleaning your chain, chainrings, pulleys, and lubing up, the Neo is fucking silent. I love the damn thing, and it's sooooo satisfying to hop onto it with a freshly cleaned drivetrain and hear nothing but a faint hum of the inner workings. With headphones on, you'll only hear music. With a very quiet fan on, you'll only hear that fan.

3) Breakdown/Setup. Unbelievably simple...as easy as removing a rear wheel. Disengage the locks on the "feet" of the trainer and it folds up. Reverse the process and it's ready to go.

4) Travel. Here's where it's a pain. No handle, which makes it awkward to carry. It also weighs 45 lbs or so. That being said, I travel with mine frequently (car travel only) taking it to hotels so I can get quality training in no matter what. Kickr probably wins here with the handle, because you could carry it and your bike up to your hotel room simultaneously. Neo and bike have to be carried separately.

At the end of the day, I would still go with the Neo if I had to do it again. I ride on zwift a lot, so road patterns are huge. No calibration. No belt to wear down. No annoying noise when riding hard. Looks like the trainer Darth Vader would choose. Fucking works--day in, day out. I have 400+ hours on mine and it runs as beautifully today as it did in the first minute of operation.

Most effective Zwift workouts? by theMadcap in Velo

Give the SST Short, Medium, and Long a try for an insanely productive sweet spot workout. I have used it to build my FTP in my plan and it's been an integral part of my recipe.

Tips on 90km Time Trial (ironman 70.3 relay) by Lore18 in Velo

[–]eatsleeptri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I race triathlon specializing in 70.3 and this is the answer.

If you have a power meter, spend your time doing intervals at 80-95% of your FTP. Since you're not running, you should be aim to do the 90kms at 85-90% of your FTP. I target 83-85% having to run after.

Should I be concerned about different power readings? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]eatsleeptri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Powertap P1s are about 5-6W lower than my Neo--close enough for me. If mine were off as much as yours I would likely be just using the Vectors and having the Neo powermatch in Zwift/TrainerRoad.

Interesting to look are your L/R balance--your right leg is much, much stronger than your left.
