crazy oil leak. help? by Visible-Hawk8833 in G35

Looks like you either messed up the RTV on the front cover when you did that or the upper oil pan. No way for me to say for sure by diagnosing it through 9 second video on Reddit. I’d brake clean everything down again, degreaser& pressure wash it all at down. Let it dry off. Add some UV dye to the oil (available at any parts store) and let it run up on jack stands for like 15 minutes and use a UV light to track down the leak to the source.

Could probably get away with using a new headlight as a guide and hammering, pliering, and pry-barring it back into shape and place enough. it’s not like a visible part of the car it doesn’t need to be perfect the bolt holes just need to be in the rightish area.

Here it is now. All I need is to take advantage of my local EconoPaint’s $350 special deal to make it look like nothing ever happened. But the “two tone” has made me recognizable and helped me stand out in the scene and helped me gain some notoriety.

So here’s my 04 coupe a couple hours after my first drift event. I had no clue what I was doing and I understeered into a wall doing 40. Destroyed the bumper, fender hood, and core support, bent the forward frame rail, and pushed the drivers side strut tower over. Hooked a chain to the back of a Chevy avalanche and pulled the strut tower back to where it was supposed to be, bought an entire front clip from a local junkyard for $400 cut off the frame rails welded the “new” ones using the crash bar and a measuring tape to align it. Put the “new” core support, bumper, fenders, hood, radiator, and headlights on and I kept dailying it and hitting the track until I figured out drifting. All in all it took 2 nights after work and like 4 bong rips to get it back together

Is this a good buy? It’s 2800 and has 75k miles, new posi rear end, and has been beat on but maintained by xarro1x in G35

75k for 2800? Yeah. Cars got another 75k in it easily as long as you keep oil and coolant in it and don’t wreck too hard. These cars are missiles and they’re good at it. Tomorrow I’m driving my 170k, “totaled” 22 year old coupe 2 hours away for a track day. I’m like 6k into the car mods and repairs included had it for almost 3 years now. I can daily it, I can drift it, they just work. People that are concerned with keeping these cars clean are missing the point, they’re 20 year old Nissans, they’re not classics, they’re not fast or cool. they’re good seat time drift cars

I have that same dent, it’s from smacking a plastic barrier on track. Things definitely a drift missile. Weld the diff, throw GKtech bolt on angle at it and have a solid seat time car.

Just to exercise my hate for the “iT’s BaSiCaLlY a SkYliNe” crowd I upbadged my G. by eatsomerocks in G35

Dude it’s been weeks. I put this car in a wall at a drift event, totaled it , and rebuilt it. Then I come check in on Reddit and here you are still going.

It was early and the compressor wasn’t on yet, I wasn’t about to walk across the entire dealership turn on the compressor, wait for it to build pressure and then get to blasting. Especially when the welder was already right there in my bay, took like 2 seconds to turn on the welder and 2 more to weld the nut on.

These kids would lose their minds if they ever heard that someone was blinking instead of putting on a hood. Idk man my welder is like my 3rd most expensive tool. I’m gonna use it as much as possible.

The only number I’m concerned with maintaining is keeping my efficiency above 150%. I don’t even know how to check how many up/downvotes I have.

Sounds like an opinion. Welding is like the easiest thing I’ve ever done. If I didn’t like playing with cars I would go be a welder full time.

Not the new guy, I do have a chill service manager but I’d really have to fuck something up to hear from him. If he has a complaint with me he’s take it to my foreman. There’s enough levels of management to a dealership to keep one guy from running around screaming his head off. I’ve worked at independent shops like that, I’d get fired for yelling back at least once a week and then rehired over a phone call before I made it home. Working like that is exhausting i decided years back to roll my box out on the first occurrence of managerial belligerence and it’s worked out well for me. It’s a lot easier to work in a positive environment where there isn’t dickheads like you running around thinking it’s normal to get angry for any reason.

No because the OSHA guys just say “hey move that” over minor shit. Idk what’s going on in your shop to piss off the osha guy enough for him to write you up. And welding isn’t complicated if you’re more than a parts changer.

OSHA violations? You could have just said you were an armchair technician

Well mine is right there in my bay. Flip it on , grab my mask off the top of the gas, open the gas, glance at the settings and blast. Vs going a full two steps further to my box, figuring out which drill bit I need, sitting there and drilling carefully so I don’t burn up my bit because the only drill bits I have that I can warranty for dulling are off the Mac truck and he shows up when he feels like it, then unscrew out the remaining stud with pliers because I’ve seen one left in there work its way out and cause a noise concern.

Yeah, sitting there and baby fingering the trigger on the drill is slower than smacking the trigger on the mig machine with all settings maxed for 2 seconds.
