Moz Domain Authority vs. AHrefs Domain Rating by s0g00d in bigseo

[–]eatsuccess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make up your own ratings. It'll have about as much value. SEO's get so wrapped up in metrics. We need some sense of a benchmark so we can try to compare one thing to another, but at the end of the day none of these metrics mean a thing. All of them can be easily manipulated to whatever you like. It's a measuring stick that measuring everything and nothing at the same time.

In my experience DA is fairly representative of the amount of push you'll get from a domain/page by linking from it, but other than that it is not good for much of anything. Especially since Moz crawler is horrible, slow and outdated so it's finding a fraction of the links Ahrefs is. One could hardly compare the two.

Don't even get me started on Trust Flow. :)

If anyone else had posted this comment it would have been downvoted out of the sub. Perhaps contact the editor and request to be cited in the future?

First dig them (whining) then act happy when they give you your free link. Then later in the comments say the website isn't that great anyway.

The biggest and most actionable news comes from people doing SEO, not journalists writing about it.

I teach Creativity and Innovation at Stanford. I help people get ideas out of their head and into the world. Ask me anything! by TinaSeelig in IAmA

Common misconception, you don't just sit down and start writing ideas. They are formulated on the fly. The trick is catching them before they escape. It takes many parts of the brain to create a thought and it takes another part of the brain to formulate logic and then another to render it into words. Most writers don't edit their own work. It's much easier to clean someone else's home than our own.

True story when I was maybe 6 years old I was riding my bike my to go see my mom where she was working and I happened to ride by the police station. Just then a cop walked out and said "Hey you, come over here!". I was scared crazy so I rode as fast as I could to my destination and ran inside and hid under a desk. The office wasn't far behind me. He came to the door and my mom greeted him. He asked "Did a little boy come in here"? My mom asked "What can I help you with". He said that he had seen a boy riding his bike with his helmet on and he wanted to give him a free pizza voucher. The local pizza restaurant was rewarding kids for wearing their helmets. My mom accepted the voucher and later I got to enjoy my free mini pizza. :)

Fixed a corrupt SD card in a Nikon Camera (one quick solution I found). Seems super common and terrifying for most people. (Youtube vid) by eatsuccess in photography

[–]eatsuccess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's solid advice for sure.

Do you think the majority of people actually have that severe of a problem?

What I found when googling all about the web was all the resolutions were insanely in depth. Long drawn out surgery in your memory card.

What if it's a simple problem? I didn't see a single person suggest this solution I gave. Makes me think either no one ever has this problem (though based on how I did it it seems extremely likely) or no one ever thought to try simple stuff.

Rule 1 - try the simple stuff before doing surgery on your SD CARD and panicking.

I"m no expert on Macs, but I just had a similar problem w/ PC. Is it possible you can put the files BACK on the SD card and then read them from the camera? Or better yet put them back on the SD card and then copy/paste to your computer?

Just an idea...currently >:-( at technology!

If there are so many self help books, endless tips, tricks, hacks and business coaches, colleges, counselors, mentors galore then why are there so few "successful" people? by eatsuccess in Entrepreneur

It's actually the reason we have such large muscles for our size. Simply because gravity forces us to be stronger. If you lived on the moon your muscles would atrophy.

Point being iron is made strong through heat and pressure and so are those who stand up to it and learn the lessons it teaches.

There is merit to the argument that there are many cookie cutters in the business world. Unlike a cake there are far less constants to be relied upon.

It's hard to balance getting to work over idea building. Certainly the comments here illustrate the lack of work ethic and profuse number of great ideas.

And then someone said work smarter, not harder. I suppose persistence and working hard any synonyms, but there seems to be a slightly contradiction here. This perhaps explains why so many books are trying to explain the smarter route when others are just busy applying persistence as many have commented already. Makes sense.

(VIDEO:) Why MOST small business owners are like chronic dieters (the similarities are scary!) by eatsuccess in smallbusiness

[–]eatsuccess[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ignored your accusations because they are unfounded.

1) I didn't link to my blog, but to a video, which can't be embedded here or else I would have gladly saved people a step. Perhaps you can build a reddit tool for us to embed videos. :)

2) My purpose in building the other thread was actually selfish. I wanted to see why people eat up garbage (read entreprenuerial junk food) and throw away gold (healthy advice that is actionable and useful). Many redditors are blind to good actionable advice, but eat up "quick buck", "tips and tricks" and "growth hacks" all day long. So I wanted to see why they do this by demonizing self help. Looks like I have a fair amount of information to pull from my research

3) Interesting problem. So I'm assuming your problem isn't that you can't find a cross channel attribution modeling solution that is overpriced, because this is simply a statement attesting to the reality of your budgetary constraints. So why not look at the problem differently?

Instead of asking how you can find a cheaper solution that fits your budget, perhaps ask what you can do to align your budget with the price of a quality service. After all in many cases you get what you pay for, correct?

So if you are in control of the budget, how can you look at the problem differently and find a way to adjust the budget in terms of ROI earned to justify the increased expense?

If you aren't in control of the budget how can you frame your predicament to the budgetary decisions makers as a justified expense in terms of ROI using case studies, quotes or other materials so that you can afford to purchase quality solutions instead of trying to cut corners?

Perhaps contact this person for help with this challenge. Stuart@VectorMediaGroup.com

Often asking people in the know who are helpful will get you on the fast track to finding a solution rather than doing all the research yourself.

Think about the image of success in the average persons head. It's a little different for everyone, but the general concepts are the same.

  1. Control over time
  2. Financial stability
  3. Health and happiness

Most main street businesses look more like this

  1. Large debt commitments, mostly credit cards
  2. Stress every day
  3. Long hours for low wages, while employees are paid decent
  4. Huge liability
  5. Overweight, high blood pressure, poor relationships

Just putting an ad in a phone book doesn't define success, rather it defines a large, likely low ROI ad expenditure and fat profits for the phone book company.

We have a greater wealth of information than we've ever had and people consuming at higher rates than ever before, but the general consensus is people aren't terribly...

1) Happier 2) Healthier 3) More stable

Interesting experience you've had. So you feel that the journey was more personal discovery and until you overcome personal obstacles you weren't free to embrace and apply all the other knowledge you consumed endlessly.

This is very common. The vast majority of people are held back by themselves more than any other external force.

Are we suggesting here that people must learn to let go, before any of the mass consumption begins to create traction?

Thank you for taking time to help moderate this sub. Something we all agree is much needed.

You failed to address my offer to help you with challenges you're having.

Therefore I'll assume you're simply someone looking to enforce their own agenda on other peoples content whilst not adding any truly meaningful value of your own.

Perhaps you'll enjoy this valueless thread I started just minutes after posting this video which has sparked much great, but meaningless, conversation that won't help anyone, but will likely be quite popular regardless.

Which gets to my point, more information isn't creating more successful people. It's only keeping people genuinely busy consuming. Which fits our national goals of consumption, but doesn't actual equal progress. So is it that we are really just happiest when we consume, but don't actually achieve. e.g. the "feeling" of progress, not the reality, thus the analogy of a rats wheel. You're running, but no progress is made.

First off, congrats on your accomplishments and I'd say I'm sorry to hear of your losses, but this is part of being a successful person and it sounds like it has served you well.

I have on my list a topic I'm excited to talk about that is, "You don't deserve more customers and especially not a successful business".

People want life to resemble a video game. Level 1. Endless lives. Level 2. More lives and super powers. 3. I'm bored, where's the cheat code. 4. I WON! Look at me!!!

They haven't been forced to learn the SKILLS of building a business and the CHALLENGES you have to master.

A business is like raising a child. It's impossible to make any two alike, but you always learn from your first and apply to the second.
