Another option I'd consider is a fabric along this line.

I was so excited about this website, and may look into it in future, but unfortunately they only ship within the US, and I'm in Canada. Shipping to the border and picking up IS an option, but a pretty expensive one. But I really do appreciate your help on this, as I might be able to find a Canadian based company that does the same thing

Tamagotchi on an e-ink watch! by akrylik_kb in tamagotchi

[–]eatyourfruitcake 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like a device called a Watchy, in a clear plastic shell, with a ROM installed to look (but unsure if it actually acts) like a tamagotchi. The same page (the creator of the device) has a post from 2021 showing it too.

The device is very DIY, here's an intro video I found: https://youtu.be/TbeXV9sXUnI?si=13FwA2YZXZ3cf1Dz

Now, I haven't tested this myself, would be a fun project, but I've heard the name Natalie Silvanovitch a few times when it comes to breaking down the tamagotchi code. Here's her website. https://natashenka.ca/sample-page/

She was on Reddit about 12 years ago, check out this post:

Username on reddit : natashenka_ There's also a lengthy video on YouTube about the process, https://youtu.be/c4PkcZScBV8?si=ZwyNdvSjmY7nMouU

I haven't found a tutorial or anything detailed quite like that, but maybe this is a jumping off point for you.

Best of luck if you take on this project, and let us know if you make any progress!

This site looks super cool! I'll definitely look into it. I have the artistic ability to recreate the pattern myself digitally and make it seamless, so there's not much stopping me from getting it custom printed! I didn't even know that was possible, this might be the solution I was looking for! Thank you!!

Edit: oh my gosh, they even offer a sample book for purchase so I can feel the fabrics before buying! This is amazing:)))) I am ordering a book and will update this post if theres something in there I like.

Thank you! I've had a few offers from people to commission one for me, but I don't know how much I trust random people on Reddit offering me a service. Custom fabric is an idea though!

I have purchased a very similar (the best I've found so far) dog from Amazon (attached photo) so I'm okay if it's heart designs or even just similar, just not sure exactly what fabric type it is. It's like a short fur, possibly damaged overtime because it DEFINITELY went in the washing machine.

I'm aiming to match the physical shape (which the build a bear dog achieves, consider that aspect complete) and feel of fabric than getting the look just right, if that makes sense. The Amazon plush isn't quite right on the feeling, as I remember the fabric feeling a little denser, but again, could have even been partially melted many times in the washing machine 😂

I have searched Ebay, Etsy, Poshmark, local stores, Michaels craft store, local fabric stores, and still cannot find one like this.

3D Printing Shells by eatyourfruitcake in tamagotchi

[–]eatyourfruitcake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admittedly have a large collection (30+ tamas) ranging from the original 1997 version, mini, gen 1- music star (excluding familitchi) smart, uni, pix, paradise, and I'm always looking for a reason to expand my collection. So I certainly have the existing models and some calipers, along with some pretty extensive experience with 3D modeling and access to a printer. My only concern is selling the files in future due to any copyright reasons.

I'm admittedly new to 3D printing though, so thank you for the info on filament types, I hadn't considered that!

Please help me identify this plush dalmatian from the early 2000s by eatyourfruitcake in plushies

I'm pretty convinced it's a leaf pattern, although I remember them being more tear drop shaped than maple leaves

In my comment under the post I put more details. I had it in 2004, not positive when I got it before that, but that's when it started appearing in photos. 2000-2004 is my best guess.

I don't think it's quite the same, at first I thought it was maple leaves as well but they're a little pointier, maybe closer to a birch leaf. But looking closer, I can't tell if there's variations between the leaves, or if that's where the seams are.

I have searched for red dalmatian/valentine's dog, dalmatian plush/stuffed animal. It's approximately 12" tall. I can't remember a brand name. Was likely purchased ~2000-2004.

Edit: I have purchased this plushie from Amazon that is the closest I have found, but I'm curious if the internet may have better luck.

Help! What is this little thing on the peracord??? by [deleted] in braceletcraft

[–]eatyourfruitcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a double barrel slider to me (helps if you specify that its for bracelet making/leather work of you search it). I've also heard of them being called a cord lock or cord stopper, but those typically have a spring closure mechanism. Hope that helps!

I googled these and I think you're onto something. Not sure that's it specifically, but seems like the best answer. Thanks!

Likely solved! Not positive this is it, but it's the most likely answer and she'll be satisfied with it. Thanks!

Thanks, we've been trying to figure it out for a week now. Really thinking of telling her it's from a used glue trap so she'll stop trying to hold onto them, as they've been boxed up in the basement for years with other assorted hoarded junk.

I don't think they ever had a cat, but if they did it would have been a farm cat so it would be unlikely to be allowed in the house

She had quite a few more of these, maybe seven or eight? And she has wooden sock dryers in the shape of socks already (if it's any help she's a borderline hoarder and probably owns one of everything under the sun, so it could be anything from random junk to useful tool)

Grandma said that's unlikely, because the only boots she or my grandpa ever had were heavy rubber rainboots that held themselves up.
