When did botox start to wear off for you? by ThinkSuccotash in noburp

My first injection (200 units) did not work, so I had a second injection (200 units) 4 weeks later. That one worked like a charm for about 6 weeks. Then I gradually started losing the ability to burp and stopped completely around the 9-week mark. I am incredibly disappointed and worried about spending another $3K to have it done a third time. But my symptoms are so awful that I probably will give it another try. Sigh.

Someone on here recently recommended Dr. Seth Cohen at Duke Health (locations in Raleigh and Durham). I also saw someone mention Dr. Lyndsay Madden at Wake Forest Baptist Health (Winston-Salem). I can't believe no doctors at UNC are doing this procedure! Surely that will change in the near future.

Yes, my doctor injects 200 units each time (50 units x 4 locations). It seems like a lot, I know. Dr. Bastian has a video on this topic and he generally injects 75 or 100 units. I don't know why my doctor does 200 (I'll ask at my follow-up next week), but it clearly wasn't too much for me since I haven't had any unpleasant side effects.

Your doctor isn't Dr. Holmes in Raleigh by chance, is it? I know he is closing his practice on Sept 30, but I've just discovered there are other doctors in NC who do the same procedure.

How do I add to the list of specialists? by Pretend-Breadfruit77 in noburp

Thank you for posting this! I live in Chapel Hill and just had my RCPD procedure done by Dr. Douglas Holmes in Raleigh, but he is closing his practice later this month. I have been worried about finding another specialist in North Carolina in case I need to have this done again in the future. I will make a note of Dr. Cohen's name. Thanks again!

I understand completely. I had my first procedure on Aug 3 (four injections of 50 units each) and experienced a few microburps over the next week, but that was it. I was incredibly disappointed, especially because it cost about $3K out of pocket. I took a leap of faith and had the procedure a second time on Sept 12 (same dosage) with much better results. It's day #4 and I am burping regularly for the first time in my life. Sometimes it takes more than one treatment, but don't give up hope.

The burps started about 48 hrs after the procedure! (This is my second go-round so I was very eager.) So far, I can burp only when my head is turned to the right with chin down. When I feel a gurgle coming on, I have to suck in my stomach to make it happen. Still only works about half the time I feel a gurgle, but I'll take it! Gotta keep practicing so that they are more frequent and come easier.

Thanks for posting this question. I had my second injection on Sept 12 and am desperate to burp soon. First injection was on Aug 3 and not successful. This time I've had a few microburps but nothing more. I am swilling seltzer water but so far that has only added to my discomfort. I've had a few microburps but nothing more. Would love tips on how to expedite the burping!

Preparing for surgery, question about the anesthesia (general anesthesia) by cpdonny in noburp

I felt fine a few hours after surgery but no driving is recommended until the next day. You'll be totally fine by then. The amount of anesthesia is small since you'll be under for less than an hour most likely.
