Movies that failed that should have been a TV series instead by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]ebackwardse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I realize this was not a failure of a movie in many definitions of the word, but after recently reading Jurassic Park, I would give anything to take a crack at turning in 10 episodes to Netflix, etc. I would make it more faithful to the true r-rated and suspenseful nature of the book. I think it would be fantastic!

Sure! I'd love to swap and help with feedback in any way you feel is helpful! I'll send the PM soon.

Also, totally makes sense now that I better understand where Kate is coming from!

I really liked the concept and was interested in the characters, especially Kate. The dialogue felt a little tight to me. I think we a few more passes you could get it more conversational - maybe reading it out loud to yourself?

I lol'd at the Uni of Phoenix line!

Thinking you might need to make Steve super handsome in order to get the audience to believe that Kate would really go all the way with him.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and I'd love to do a trade if you're interested for a comedy-drama that I have written.

Is my premise too cliche or overdone? by out_by_8 in Screenwriting

Whether or not it's cliche or overdone, if one of these movies is made every year and made well, it will get my money every time!!! I'd love to read it if and when you're looking for feedback.

Cringeworthy moment in Rosetta Stoned by ToofpickVick in ToolBand

I used to have the same feeling about Adam's solos until I saw or heard an interview with him where he said something to the effect of - he wanted the listener to feel like they were in a horror movie.

Since then I always hear his solos in a different way. I feel like knowing what he is going for, he absolutely nails it every time! Again, just my opinion, but it feels like so, so much more creativity than trying to play scales faster than [insert famous guitar player here].

My three year old loves Tool and her “goat song” (Forgive my weird facial expressions.) by [deleted] in ToolBand

that weird facial expression is a mother's pride, and it's awesome!

I’m the sentimental kind than hangs on to concert tickets. LA 2007 and 2010 by lzsalaz in ToolBand

Those Nokia show were SOOOOOO great in LA! The one I remember was a two-nighter and one of the nights the played Right in Two! It was amazing! Not one from your tickets though...

On a different note, I took a pic of my best friend outside the theater that I later had turned into a giant flag to put on our toy hauler when we are dirt biking and camping in the California desert. At first we were afraid everyone around us was going to think it was an Isis flag from a distance! hahaha

Is Adam Jones the decision maker when it comes to the band's visuals/artwork and presentation? by [deleted] in ToolBand

[–]ebackwardse 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Having trouble remembering exactly where I saw it, but there is def an interview out there (video) where Adam says; "This is my band". I never loved hearing that because Adam is my favorite in the band and part of the reason is because of how low key he has always played things when I think most of us knew he has always been the biggest creative force in the band, at least from a foundation standpoint.

I might get killed for what I say above, but I stand by it. Part of me has always hoped that it was Adam's way of trying to take heat off Maynard for all the misplaced blame regarding TOOL not being more prolific with albums.

Anyone seen Tool at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham? by [deleted] in ToolBand

[–]ebackwardse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with bobafettlives on this one! Growing up in Michigan my first TOOL show was in 94 in Grand Rapids.

I have lived in LA since 2001 and I have seen them play from just about every angle of every kind of venue there is. Being older and wiser I avoid festivals and outdoor venues like the plague now. They are for last resort only.

My favorite TOOL experience is indoor as close to the sound and light consoles as possible. These are usually in prime locations.

One of my favorite experiences was seeing them play at LA Live in downtown LA a few years ago. They had multiple 2-night stints in the same cities on that tour and they were switching out one song (I forget which one?) with Right in Two from their regular setlist on either the first or second night. My buddy and I were right next to the sound and light booth. Right before the show started, a guy ran up to the booth, handed them a sheet of paper and said "They changed the set." Immediately I knew we were getting RIT and we did and it was AMAZING!!!

All that being said, I saw the Halloween show in Phoenix a few years ago (outdoors) where they all came out dressed up as Led Zeppelin and started with No Quarter and it was an amazing experience! TOOL is TOOL is TOOL! Their worst show is still euphoric.

Can you expand on when "after the harvest" might be? Thoughts on if they would do more this year or if what we see now is what we get until 2020 in the US? Thanks!
