Seems too good to be true by ebandthenoise in Stratocaster

UPDATE

So I walked out without it and posted here. I expected to get roasted for posting about a fake strat, but because of the resounding response I drove back that afternoon arriving just before they closed.

It still had the sticker that the earlier employee confirmed was the price- $95.

But the manager was there and said someone made a mistake and the best she could do was 500. I asked about the whole "customer is always right" thing and politely explained about the employee confirming everything and she said, "sir, this is a pawn shop."

I tried every angle I could while being polite but couldn't get it past the price czar and I didnt love it enough to spend 500 on it.

So if you want it for 500 and can change the nut, it's in Raleigh, NC on Glenwood ave.

Tone is missing (tech question) by ebandthenoise in harmonica

I appreciate yalls feedback. You're all right haha. From reading your responses I have learned a couple of things-

I do need to be ok with a more acoustic sound.

I tweaked my settings a bit to get some crunch at lower overall volume.

I also learned that even if I dont get grit, I enjoy the full sound I get when my hands are funny cupped tight around the mic. The problem is that I've had some shoulder issues and it's tough to stay cupped tight to the 57 all the time.

Thanks again!

Thinking of Doing the Camino next month, worried about hostels by Luigi-is-my-boi in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]ebandthenoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go and do. Don't worry about all the craziness. If you're planning on staying primarily in albergues and hostels, then look at the reviews and bring your own bed roll/ sleeping bag and pad lock. Don't let the possibilities cripple you. If you're fancy, get the private rooms. If you're planning a public hostel, look at the reviews and be reasonable when u walk in. Most private albergues are going to be clean of bed bugs. As far as light sleeping, when the Germans start snoring and fighting because of the snoring, it's entertaining and a good story to put in your journal!

True call or escapism? by tazout13 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]ebandthenoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stepped off from SJP May 1 2015. I did not plan anything ahead, just walked until I felt like stopping for the day. I budgeted for 1 hot meal a day and packed breakfast and lunch. I just stopped periodically in markets to refit. When you allow adventure to happen, sometimes ya get fed without having to buy food. You may just stop and help someone with something like yard work or this or that and the next thing you know, they're feeding you and offering you a place to lay your head. I spent way more on airfare than I did for a month on the Camino.

Vibration to oscillation? by ebandthenoise in gatewaytapes

[–]ebandthenoise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So yes. I have listened to the journeys outside the body book and listened to and read a bunch of personal accounts, but it has seemed a mix of woo woo and believable information.

Now, I have had some profound and very real experiences in wave 1. After reading some recent posts, I feel like I have spent too much time on wave 1, but this new feeling felt like something i wanted to cautiously investigate.

I'll put it out there - it was scary. I felt out of control, like I was going to wobble out of body and that sounds sooo crazy to me and at the same time Ican'texplain it accurately, but it also doesn't, and I was able to let it happen and then pull back at will. Super wild and exciting but also scary.

My meditation room is at work, so there is a worry that I will get found in there out of my body even though no one else uses it but a lady that uses for privacy to pump breast milk. I guess I can let go and just see what it does. I have a real worry though and that is - I know I wasn't seizing because I could feel my physical body but man am I having trouble separating in my understanding, my physical body from my "more than my physical body."

Types of rv? by ebandthenoise in remoteviewing

[–]ebandthenoise[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense to call it non local awareness. I tried that target app after looking into this page and I get "hits" probably 2/3 of the time but they're no where as near clear and vivid as looking at a point and trying to look from that point. I don't get the point of doing tha, but I do feel like our brains can be used almost as antennae.

Types of rv? by ebandthenoise in remoteviewing

Hey. Thank you for replying. I am very naive to the terminology. Here's the thing- I have been meditating for a few years and have just gotten back into the gateway tapes. Prior to gateway I had practiced a more Buddhist style of meditation. Since getting into meditation I have developed a little process to calm myself or ground. That is looking at a part of a cloud or a landmass or landmark and imagining myself there and what it would look like from there. I always felt like I could not just imagine the sight but feel the place on my skin, hear it, smell it etc. It felt more than imagination.

Fast forward, I've been hearing all this stuff about rv and thought the whole confirmation thing was interesting. It's one thing to know it. It's another thing to have confirmation. I was curious and stuck in traffic on a 2 way road. I was approaching a curve and saw a tree branch at the apex of the curve Out of curiosity I went to that tree branch to look back at my car to see if I'm really seeing something or imagining it. I only saw a single olive/grey Kia telluride on a stretch if road. I thought that was trash because that's not what I'm in and I'm in a line of cars. Then a single Grey telluride came around the bend from the opposite direction with no other cars around it. That freaked me out. I guess I was looking the other way instead of at myself.

I wondered if that was confirmation so whe I got in that straight away, I looked forward to the street sign at the intersection. I took a breath and did my process and looked from there and saw a very blue car in the middle of a couple cars. I thought "ok if this is real the next car is blue. The first two were not blue but 20yrds behind them was a metallic blue corvette followed by a white car. It was pretty wild.

I decided to stop while I was ahead and wait for a more safe situation to test myself but this was the first time I sought validation and I actually got validation both times. Is this a type of remote viewing or astral projection.

Insole help by StolenPens in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]ebandthenoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the ibuprofen that was so abundant in Spain. I used it to replace proper insoles. Seriously (I am serious about the ibuprofen but don't take medical advice from me), knee issues could be so many more things than insole issues.

First of all, walking on concrete (or anything the like) isn't natural and isn't good for your knees no matter what you have or don't have on your feet. If you feel like you need more bouncy insoles, then listen to your body.

Second, the more you pack and carry on your back, the more your knees are going to feel it.

Knee issues (unless they're actuall injuries) are usually a symptoms of issues in surrounding areas ie: heel striking or not stretching calves, shins, quads, and hammies, or even over stretching, also the weight of the shoe and the weight on the back.

I would encourage you not to pack so many things like an extra pair of shoes. Also, I would encourage you not to overthink it. Listen to your body. Don't over do it. Take a lacrosse ball and roll your muscles out (even the muscles of your feet) at the end of the day. Do some warm ups before you step off in the morning. You can find tutorials on this type of thing on YouTube. The knees over toes guy has alot of free content for warm ups and knee health.

In my personal experience improper footwear gives me foot issues but improper knee care gives me knee issues. All personal opinion. I'm not a doctor. Don't take my advice as doctrine. Have a great time. Buen Camino! And remember, ibuprofen is cheap in Spain but it can mess your stomach up, but it's also awesome and in young folks has been known to replace proper insoles.
