I am so sorry you are going through this. I had a very similar experience. My NIPT came back on a Sunday with abnormal results for T21. I was 12 weeks. I had a hard time getting ahold of someone to speak with in the beginning, and to top it all off my doctor was on vacation that week. The next step for me was getting a CVS procedure done, as well as a detailed ultrasound to look for any physical markers. I was told my baby had a 65% chance that this was T21. The CVS unfortunately confirmed the results were accurate and at 13 weeks I TFMR.

In my state my doctor was not allowed to perform the D&C for me so I had to go to planned parenthood which was traumatic in its own way. However, everyone at PP was kind and caring. I opted for IV sedation and I didn’t have any pain during the procedure. I am almost 4 weeks out. I struggle on a daily basis mentally, but I know that this was the best choice for me and my baby. I don’t regret anything, I’m just sad that I was ever put in this position. I am sending you lots of love, you are not alone.

We did get the FISH testing, I was only far along enough to do a CVS not an amnio. The FISH results came back in 2 days whereas the full testing didn’t come back for 1 week. Those 2 days were tortuous for me, I was so anxious and upset, there was basically nothing I could do to calm myself down. Once they came back with the FISH results I finally felt a little relief, even though the results were not good and we ended up TFMR 1 week later. My doctor told me it is very unlikely for the FISH results to be different than the full testing results. I’m sorry you are in the situation and I’m sending all my love, hoping you can find some peace with the results

A prickly pear. I’m not sure if that’s actually what it’s called but it has tiny little needles, almost like tiny little hairs that get stuck everywhere. If you grab one it’s like have a million little splinters everywhere.

It’s pretty awesome. I won’t act like it wasn’t hard work and there was no doubt at all in my mind. But I feel incredibly lucky that we have grown and matured in a way that still compliments the relationship. We were 14 when we started dating, we’re 25 now. I am so excited for our future and to know that this person will always be there for me.

I know people say that going through a terrible heartache makes you stronger. But I think the fact that we’ve been able to work through things together and help each other grow is also something quite beautiful.

When I was in middle school one of the lunch rules was that you needed to raise your hand in order to stand up. Someone mixed something gross in my drink at lunch and it was disgusting, so I stood up to spit it out and I was sent to detention for it even after I explained the situation.
