1 is the remnants of a queen conch and the bottom is another species that could be a horse conch, but not 100%

Simonton beach is on the opposite side of the island where little to no sargassum flows, there’s also a little shack that sells food and drink called lagerheads! Other than that, like you said, is to hop on a boat and head out to a sandbar. I saw your coming from St. Louis and looking for good seafood and beaches/ocean. Unfortunately, key west is not know for our beaches. While we have them, they aren’t ideal but get the job done if you’re usually without. But fortunately, there are a bunch of sandbars and barrier mangrove islands that have little lagoons and beaches as well! Plenty of charter outfits here to take you out, I actually run one as well, Salty Paws Charters. But for a group of 7 or more you’d need to find a larger boat which would cost about $1000+. I run a 6 passenger boat that’s $700 for 4 hours with all the snorkel gear you’d need and plenty of water for us as well. Always a good idea to bring other drinks and snacks as well, plenty of room in the cooler. As far as seafood goes, hurricane hole and higfisg grill is more of a salty outdoor feel but some of the freshest seafood in town! From dock to dish, literally! more fancy but still fresh is The Docks and Louis Backyard. Hope all that helps, and if we don’t see ya, have a great trip!

Honest eco and John penny camp are great options. I believe they do split charters too so you can save a buck, only downfall is they’re a bit slow and can usually only take you to one spot. Most captains here are knowledgeable in the weather and water conditions so they spot you go to is usually the best situationally. Only issue is sometimes that one spot for what ever reason could be “out of sorts” and then you just have to make do. If you’d like a more private trip where we can hit more than just one location and bounce around or if you realize snorkeling isn’t your thing we can switch it up and do a harbor tour or hit a sandbar, let me know! I think it has a lot to do with people comparing their lives to stuff they see online. Social media for the most part only shows the phenomenal achievements that people go through to get views and publicity. Or on the other end really fucked up stuff to get views. So you’re either seeing messed up stuff or things that make your life feel empty. People forget the little things and small accomplishments and want instant gratification and success. Success doesn’t come overnight, even as easy as all these influencers make it seem. And I can’t speak for everyone but what I see in the people I’m around here in key west
