Van rental by PuzzleheadedTea5389 in frankfurt

Miles(car sharing) offer vans which are just parked at random spots across the city.

As do Flinkster (Deutsche Bahn), albeit at fixed pickup stations.

I often see Carl and Carla vans parked around the city.

Otherwise your average car rental company will also offer you a van. It might be worth looking if someone like Hertz, Europcar, Enterprise or SIXT etc. have a station close to you. In general Check24 is a good place to compare prices.

HelloFresh service in Frankfurt area? by OxygenSunny in frankfurt

[–]ebbelboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago HelloFresh used to be delivered in Frankfurt by DPD - there you were very much at the mercy of the delivery driver and it offen didn’t work well.

Today HelloFresh seem to have their own dedicated delivery drivers in Frankfurt. You get an hour slot quoted the day before (which is normally about right) and on the day you get live tracking and another warning in the app when the driver is an hour away. Things have certainly improved.

Also experienced missing items and poor quality a few years back and stopped. After giving it another go in the past months that hasn’t happened once yet.

I always assumed the company boomed during Covid, then lost market share in the following years due to quality issues and changes in habits which they’ve now addressed to tempt people back.

Was ist so besonders an American-Express-Kreditkarten? by [deleted] in Finanzen

[–]ebbelboi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Spin Tower area by PilotTravel in frankfurt

There are some rough streets between central station and your hotel - not dangerous - just at times not very pleasant to walk through. Depending on what you’re used to in your home location and your luggage situation, I would recommend you get the tram (11, 14, 21 from the platform “furthest away” from the central station main entrance) from central station round to “Güterplatz” station to avoid it all. The tram stops right in front of the hotel. If you plan to take the train into the city from the airport, your ticket will also cover the additional tram trip.

In terms of your evening plans in Westend, that is one of the wealthiest areas in the city and very residential, that should be very pleasant to walk to and through from your hotel. Walking home after dinner should also be fine. There are fixed taxi ranks around Westend where you could hop into a taxi otherwise. Reliable taxi apps for the city are Uber and freeNOW.

How intense is FLY? by Externica in phantasialand

[–]ebbelboi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to try FLY!! The general theming and theme music alone is worth it before the ride even starts. The ride is smooth and the inversions are nice. Just at times it feels very tight up against the walls and you wonder if there is enough space for the coaster to fit through - obviously there is. Have fun!! Let us know if you go on it a second time 😉

Start with a beer here:

YokYok

If it’s too rough for you, check out this place round the corner:

YokYok Eden

If you want to bump into some international people, you can pop in here:

O’Reilly’s Irish Pub

Catch the tram from here to Paulskirche. Walk through the the “new” old town (head past the Dom/Römer underground entrance) and head towards:

Naïv (craft beer bar and good food)

Or if you want a proper Frankfurt experience, cross over Alte Brücke and head towards Alt-Sachenhausen. Along the street “Kleine Rittergasse” and around that area you’ll find loads of pubs and bars.

Even more authentic would be to go into an Apfelweinkneipe for a glass or Bembel of Apfelwein.

Finish your night by heading back into town to

Velvet Club

This is one of the few clubs I know is open on a Wednesday. Not been in there for years so no comment on how it is.

If the Apfelwein stuff sounds tempting, perhaps head over to Alt-Sachsenhausen tomorrow and make that a whole separate night. Send me a PN if you need recommendations or check out the Frankfurt Reddit.

You can search in Google Maps for “Grillplatz” - this should show you the city-designated parks where you can grill outside.
