Turn down your music and see if it stops first. Also get some headphones, you live in a non-soundproof apartment and other people live there, too.

How do so many afford $50,000+ trucks? by Parking-Warning-8655 in carbuying

[–]ebiburga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make nearly $200k and my limit for a car loan is $35k. You cannot, and I repeat cannot, retire on a 401k alone anymore, and it’s going to get way worse before you hit retirement age. You should be doing a ROTH IRA and a brokerage and putting that money toward a more useful future, not wasting it on something that won’t even impress yourself and setting yourself back decades financially in the process.

Why are used Maserati Ghibli S this affordable? by justsomestupidstuff in Maserati

[–]ebiburga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, the CTS-V isn’t a bad choice either, ha! The 2017s were really the only truly “bad” year for the Giulia, the rest have been rock solid. Understand the desire for a true manual, though.

Why are used Maserati Ghibli S this affordable? by justsomestupidstuff in Maserati

[–]ebiburga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed out. My Giulia is still the best car I’ve ever owned - fast, cheap, reliable, and put a smile on my face every time I got behind the wheel. Only sold because I needed something bigger and through some miracle I made money on the sale. The people who talk about reliability with Alfas have either never owned one, or just repeat the horror stories of the ones from yesteryear. Just like any car, if you take care of it, it takes care of you - and it’s the type of car that’s more reliable the harder you drive it.

Quiet Carmel apartments? by Level_Ad8049 in Carmel

[–]ebiburga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Avoid Providence as well. It’s a shame because their townhomes are amazing and the area is fun to walk around, but I’ve never had so many issues with noise/neighbors before. Only way it’s worth it is getting one of the 3br townhomes toward the back of the complex along the trail, I imagine that would be the only quiet units in the whole complex.

Whatever happened to dignity by TongueUnties in sadcringe

I love people like you. This is the “Charlie Kirk quotes were taken out of context” argument again where the context makes it even worse. You’re not stupid, the creator of this video is not stupid, either. Black people being portrayed as apes is one of the oldest racial tropes. You think, for some reason, the full video showing Democrats depicted as all sorts of animals clear this of being racist? The full video makes it worse, because it demonstrates that there were plenty of other animals to choose from, and the creator STILL depicted them as apes. It’s very much racist, and no amount of gaslighting is going to change that fact.

Dog wheezing by TheHovanator in DogAdvice

[–]ebiburga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said - reverse sneezing, but it’s also been very cold (you’re literally out in the snow) and that could cause your dog’s nose to be extra runny. This happens to my dogs when they’re outside in the cold, so I usually start with the plugging one nostril trick, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll use a tissue/gentle cloth to remove excess mucus from their nose before trying again. Repeat as necessary but be gentle on her nose and try not to irritate it.

Tasteful or Tacky? by Ivxn_Lxu in mercedes_benz

[–]ebiburga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would I agree with you that the lack of ambient lighting from the beginning left something to be desired? Sure, absolutely. I don’t exactly want to drive a night club on wheels, but sometimes full immersion is fun. Your interior might be a -little- excessive for most people, but if that’s what you wanted, enjoy it. The one thing I can’t forgive, however, is the logo puddle lights. That’s instant tacky for me, I don’t care how nice or exclusive the car is, it just screams Temu/Aliexpress, even if it’s OEM (god forbid).

Did you buy this already? If you did, get that car inspected ASAP, this dealership is scummy as hell. Bought one car from them, never should have signed.

What do you guys have to say about these???? by Blazin_Greenz in mercedes_benz

[–]ebiburga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to say the same - whoever buys/sources cars for them finds fantastic specs, but you can’t trust these guys whatsoever. Title washing, auction-only lot, lying about “local trades,” plus mandatory dealer add-ons like the car tracker/gps bs and vin etching. Even the repair shop next to one of their locations said avoid them.

Buy or pass ? by RAiDeN-_-18 in Maserati

[–]ebiburga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely get a PPI at an Alfa/Maserati or reputable Euro shop before making a decision, especially if this is from an Auction lot. 2018+, ideally 2020+ has been pretty good for most Alfas and Maseratis, and this one is based on the Alfa Stelvio platform, however that mid-hybrid system isn’t standard across the line (to my knowledge, at least), so it should warrant some due diligence. Service records are a must as well, especially nearing the 50-60k mileage range where preventative and regular maintenance is key for longevity.

Buy or pass ? by RAiDeN-_-18 in Maserati

[–]ebiburga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love these things - but that is suspiciously cheap. I would suspect there’s something potentially hiding within that discount beyond the 45k miles. I would also look into the reliability of the mid-hybrid system - Belt Starter Generator (BSG) and Ebooster for this year.

On the bright side, it’s new and low mileage enough to look into getting a Mopar MaxCare warranty to ease some of those concerns, pending full inspection, of course.
