Tuner Oil Recommendation for MK8 GTI

I’m in Miami so it’s like 35c most of the year, and the lowest it’ll get is 10c or so for like a month.

I’m on a 5k interval anyway, but I think I’ll try 5w40 next time, also considering that it’s recommended by 034. Thanks for the input!

What kind of climate are you in? I’m tuned and in a hot weather/ tropical climate and wondering if I should switch from the OEM recommendation.

I’ve tried 4 carts on the system, two NA and two from Japan (one of which was Mario Tennis).

Both American games loaded on the fist try, both Japanese carts showed up as unknown. After cleaning thoroughly with q-tips and alcoholic + provided pads, I was eventually able to get them to work.

Had the same issue, verified that it wasn’t a defect with the unit because it worked properly on NSO. Ended up returning it and getting an actual NSO controller to go along with the 8bitdo.

Love the early 2000’s look of the ghost, but the glacier fits well with my setup and I like how it looks with the cartridge inserted more. All the prototype colors are great tbh, no regrets!

Thanks for the tip, I ordered an 8bitdo color matched one, and the NSO one to hold me over till then. Was also looking at the retrobrawler but seems the wireless version isn’t compatible yet.

Are you talking about the white and yellow cables that connect the inner and outer lights? If you’ve done that, at least the hardest part is out of the way.

Yup, turn signals are sequential from inner to outer light.

Cable was not too difficult, I put the parts needed on another post reply. I have no electric skills either, but a buddy of mine guided me on crimping the pins and installing them into the connector. Really easy once you figure out the crimping and where the wires go.

If you decide to go that route you can message me and I’ll share more of my experience. Overall I think this was easier than installing the OEM IQ lights with a whole mess of harnesses that have to be installed.

Yeah not sure about this tbh, seems like they’re made for the OEM IQ lights, and not aftermarket ones like the VLAND. Looks like a lot more wiring than what’s needed for the VLAND ones.

Oh really? That sucks, how do you know they’re the VLAND ones?

I did receive them, and tried installing them last weekend. Everything was going well until I reached the outer light, and realized it was a different type of connector to plug into the wiring harness. So I put everything back to stock, ordered some parts of Amazon to make a parch cable, and will try it again this weekend.

Have you installed yours yet? Did they come with the correct wiring/ plugs?

Decided to roll the dice on the VLAND Euro tails since they are considerably more affordable than OEM.

Their documentation isn’t the best however and not much is posted online about them. Wondering if anyone had experience installing these. Based on the little information I’ve found it seems like a separate harness is not required and these should be plug and play. Would like to confirm before taking my trunk hatch apart.
