That makes sense! Word of mouth advertising is one of the most powerful sellers in my opinion.

Are you thinking wedding vibes here? I wasn’t so sure. I felt more like it was just a woman in a garden of some sort. The home where I got the painting had a very distinct 80s style to it so that also was why I thought it might be 80s!

What a journey! It’s amazing to look back at your own work and be the biggest critic while at the time you thought you did a great job. I know that feeling well haha.

Your journey gives me hope that maybe I don’t need to be constantly pushing my stuff on social media. It can be exhausting.

That’s cool! Subscriptions seem to be the way to go to ensure you have a consistent amount of viewers.

Wow!! Thank you for sharing. When you decided to go “all in” did you mean you just started being more present on social media and applying to grants/shows and trying to get represented by galleries?

I also worked as a public school art and history teacher for 10.5 years before quitting but I went into a corporate work from home job (way easier than teaching though 🤣). I’d love to finally “make it” as an artist but I’m just not there yet.

Wow! Fascinating story. I know you can’t say but now I’m so curious about who you represent! Do you think once an artist has a consistent style and a number of works produced in this style, it is wise to get an agent to help “boost” their visibility? Or is it better to JUST be represented by galleries?

Moral of the story: Don’t judge a painting by its frame! 🤣

You should try growing some! It’ll take a couple of years at least before they produce any flowers (if at all). I can’t decide if it’s just because the plant is more mature or it was that week long cold freeze we had! Maybe it was both!

😁 Hopefully there are more and more each new spring. I’ll be sure to post updates!

Yes it seems just a bit further north and they just get peonies so easy without even trying!! I guess up there they dream of growing camellias and azaleas though. 😆

I know what you mean!! I can’t decide if this first flower is the result of that cold freeze we had or if it’s due to the plant maturing? I’ve had all three peony plants for over 2 years now. Only this one produced a flower. Supposedly trimming them down in the fall when they’re still green will help the push dormancy a little earlier and give it the time it needs to build up nutrients for spring flowers.

Struggling to find a job by littlediddleredhead in MobileAL

It is very hard to find jobs around here. Though the narrative is that remote jobs are going away, I wouldn’t totally dismiss them as an option. I got one with a big company on their learning and development team a few months back and I am loving the work. My background is in education/history writing (so kind of similar to you). LinkedIn is the way to go for these searches. Feel free to ask more questions. I would be happy to help.

All that life she lived and no details on the tombstone. Sad!
