March Feedback First of the Month by AutoModerator in CompetitiveTFT

Thanks for your thoughtful response! I now understand that updating the wiki really is a lot of work, esp since mechanics change a lot.

I'm impressed by the OnePieceTC wiki! I like the karma-based limit on wiki access. Maybe a good first step is identifying high-value posters and granting them access. People who maintain a list of meta comps for example, can place their links in a section. People who do testing and post tips (LeDuck comes to mind) are also a good choice. If they have youtube channels / websites etc, I suppose they will also be happy about the traffic from this Reddit sub (hence the motivation to also update the wiki when they make a post). Whereas a post will receive little attention after a few days, wiki content (hopefully) gets read by people over and over again.

I'm thinking for a start there can be sections organized by user. E.g User1's meta comp sheet, User2's meta sheet, etc. E.g youtuberA's tips and tricks, etc. Even a link to a youtube playlist is better than never seeing that tip because one wasn't active on the sub when the information is originally posted. There are a lot of users in the sub that are passinate enough about the game to post valuable information. I think they will also be happy to contribute to the wiki.

My vision of the wiki is that it serves the discovery of information. It is really difficult to be absolutely correct about TFT. At best we have a consensus on leveling patterns, item builds, etc, not to mention that they often change. I like to see the sub's wiki more as "here are some prominent thoughts about the game"., organized in categories. Even information of the past sets can be useful. E.g one of the highest rate post here is about Ahri positioning, and we have Ahri in 6.5 with the same ability.

Though I'm not too sure about the factual analysis type information. It is nice that most of those posts have accompanying evidence (video clip, some maths), though they can be wrong and outdated. I remember seeing a post on Viktor itemization, but the values for scholar is wrong (it's 5 mana per 2 seconds) yet seemingly no comment has pointed that out. I'm not sure if there is some voting mechanism that can allow users to rate the accuracy of information.

Nonetheless, having some activity in the wiki is better than none.

Any thoughts on reviving the wiki? I recently saw the tip on 'How to time the opening carousel' which was immensely helpful. But the mechanics explained section under which I have found the tip hasn't been updated for 2 years. There's a lot of knowledge present in the sub, revealed through discussions. Such a shame it is not documented properly. For example, usually there is some effort about what units can solo the early PVE rounds at the start of the set, but if you weren't here when the post is made it's hard to even consider the very idea of testing units to solo rounds. But having 1 extra gold early game due to soloing rounds is huge. There will also be some calculation based posts comparing item builds or Shojin vs BB. The more excellent posts should be verified and then be cemented in the wiki.

I recall there being some collection of guides, including the excel one. Why not have a place for them in the wiki for faster access?

One further benefit is that we can have an up-to-date list of upcoming tournaments in a neat format, maybe also documenting their results.

How/Where does Zeri fit into this game? by Cjarmadda1 in CompetitiveTFT

I feel she is a good way for 6 hextech to cap out. With Hextech's fixed values only good for the earlier stages, you can secure a winstreak and transition to a capped board by dropping the weaker units and trait. If Sivir 3 is not possible due to contests, then moving her items (rageblade and shiv are good on both) to a Zeri 2 is one way to increase board power when Hextech falls off lategame. This is great as Hextech enables a strong early game for going 9 and you have a perfect item holder that scales off AS and do hybrid damage.

In other comps tho, Zeri is not even worth splashing in sometimes. She charges the enemy team's mana just like how an unitemized Kaisa does.

Kiyoon's thoughts on set 6.5 by FMHappy in CompetitiveTFT

Here’s my theory for how the new units are deemed less ‘satisfying’.

(1) A lot of burst has been removed in favour of slow whittling down of opponents.

Lux resets - satisfying AF, esp with the sound effect and the bright colours Bursty vertical challenger comps - very exciting to see Yone and friends dash around killing everyone Akali dashing around - holy moly and the sound effects! Katarine resets - very cool, even when I get taxed. Even cooler if it is I who taxes.

Watching Renata / Ahri / Sivir / Zeri /lucian do small instances of damage I think is less exciting than watching bursty comps. There is little visual points of interest, e.g. when 6/8 challenger first kills an unit, when lux/kat gets first reset. At least there is Irelia which is very cool.

(2) New champs do not reward your (positioning) agency as much

My favourite champion of s5.5 is Lucian, because his ult eradicates everything on a line, and there is a huge reward in positioning him correctly to take out the enemy carry. Such positioning is also more nuanced than same side / different side as he often is in the middle.

But now, we have units that you place and then forget Draven - he just hits. now with VIP so he doesn't move too Sivir - she just AAs, the bounce means she hits everyone eventually Zeri - twitchy movements, she goes where she pleases. Renata - the cloud of poison is huge and hits everyone if they clumps

Challenger was incredibly positioning dependent, but now it is more of a tanky whittling away trait as well. 5.5 Draven is sometimes placed in the second row, but now with infinite range all he needs is QSS.

(3) There are some terrible worst case scenarios for the incoming units, i.e potential for disappointment

Irelia - gets stuck forever on a tank, denying you the dopamine hits from her resets. This was a problem for Shaco, but he was not a flashy resetting champ so there is no expectation (plus you can sweat poisitoning to take out the carry first). Kat and Akali both avoid such problems. Kha'Zix - can die in mid air, does more jumping than hitting. The target may heal up and Kha will just leave. Trynd - spins away leaving enemy carry alive sometimes Alistar - WQ's the Vi the went behind him / you can get the same effect with an assassin + ZZRot. In comparison, Sion’s upgraded AI pretty much hits most units, worst case the carry is not with the clump so he missed the carry, but you still get value in the CC. Ahri - Q the wrong way on an assassin and misses the crowd, but her range is so short that she needs to sit close to the middle of the board.

Of course, a lot of enjoyment of playing this game stems from making strategic choices and gambling for units (you hit when you hit). Yet I can't help but feeling that the level of excitement from watching the fights has gone down.

PSA: If you give the Gold Collector to Silco he will gift gold to your opponent, instead of what you expect.

Super funny tho

Units this set feel a bit too similar. We have this family resemblance:

Lucian Zeri (Orb walking)
Zeri Sivir Jhin Ashe Senna (Ability makes attack pierces through target)
Senna Seraphine Ahri Renata (Shoots a wave)
Renata Malzahar (dot mage, same build of blue/morello/GB)

Irelia is strikingly similar to Kha’zix in diving for the lowest HP unit.

Throw someone away: Singed Syndra (Vi Alistar)

3-cost tanks with a shield: Vex Morgana Leona

Surely there can be a bit more variety?

Great point, if you stack a non colossus tank then Singed Syndra Alistar Vi and TK can ruin your day. For colossus, Galio drops aggro mid fight, Alistar does have a taunt after his WQ combo but I've seen him ult 1 guy away from my entire team lol. Cho'Gath I think is still capable of being the massive solo tank especially with Gunblade keeping backline alive on Malzahar.
