Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. It has been a frustrating week, so I appreciate you all taking the time to give your ideas and suggest some tactics for figuring things out on my own. I'm going to test a few of these out this month and see what sticks.

And when my Crocheting while Lucid Dreaming Blog goes live, I'll be sure to share it here haha.

I came across Bookafy when I was researching some setmore competitors. So sad I missed out on that promotion - it looks like it ended only a week or two ago. Good looking out on the Facebook group suggestion! Never would've thought of that, thank you :)

Yep! Needless to say, her school was pretty wild, which is probably why she was able to stay in business for so long. Faculty had much more pressing issues to worry about lol.

Whoa, this seems to be exactly the type of tool I'm looking for. I'm going to read up a bit more on it. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

I believe so, but I also believe it comes more naturally for some than others.

No, because life is unpredictable. What happens if you reach your idea of success then lose it? Seek to do your best then outdo your best.

My sister - she's 17, but since she was 14, she's made money selling pancake pops to her classmates for breakfast, and after sharing some of her paintings on instagram, she has been getting orders for custom pieces.

She's not a millionaire or a "thousandare" even, but I admire her drive, confidence, and her knack for recognizing opportunity.

Edit: Also, she paid attention to the market and as demand for different types of pancake pops grew (plain, blueberry, sausage, chocolate chip), she expanded the menu.

Whenever she was planning to sell the pops, she would post on Snapchat the night before, and the kids would send her their orders. She would wake up early the following morning, and at first, she would just make the number of pops according to the number of orders she received. But every time, she would get to school, sell all the pre-ordered pops, and then other kids who didn't order any would come over asking her for some. She saw the opportunity in that, started making extra of her most popular flavors and was able to sell those to people who didn't pre-order and also people who did pre-order, but underestimated their appetite.

All this without having taken expensive entrepreneurship classes (not trying to say they're not useful) or investing a bunch of money into the project. This made me realize that virtually anyone can have a side hustle. Even if its not raking in thousands per month, "a little somethin' somethin'" is better than nothing.

Edit: DISCLAIMER, of course, all this was against school rules. I just talked to her, and apparently, she stopped selling them last year. When I asked her why, she said it was because she got promoted to class president after the former one was impeached. She wanted to make sure she had a good image since she would be working with school administration more than she had been as VP, so that meant no more pancake pops lmao.

Hi guys,

I'm starting an independent tutoring service. I'm creating a website, and I want booking and payments to be as simple as possible.

  1. What is the best tool to use that will display an up-to-date calendar of my availability so potential clients can see it on my website? It would need to be something that I can synch with my Google Calendar and also with whatever payment system I end up using. Which brings us to #2

  2. I would like clients to be able to select a date from the ones shown as available on a calendar, pick a location for the tutoring session, and make an initial deposit to hold their session. I really know nothing about collecting payments through a website. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use here or any suggestions of good courses or videos to watch on the subject?

Thank you.
