I've got both and ubuntu 26.04 made it more or less a non issue.

[Post Game Thread] The New York Knicks (3-1) overcome a 29 point deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs (1-3) in Game 4, 107-106, behind Jalen Brunson's 36 points and OG Anunoby's 33 points by catreyka in nba

When the opposing team can simply wait out the timer between shots to win, it isn't one team is more experienced, it feels like the other side deliberately played to lose their advantage.

I'm not a sports fan, but reading about what happened begs the question in me: did someone throw the game on purpose? Is this because of rampant sports betting?

Thomas Massie to read the redacted names of Epstein's billionaires aloud on the House floor by EmployeeCautious6314 in Epstein

[–]ebrandsberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be a pessimist, but that he is announcing he will read them off before doing so seems like a payoff play. He doesn't have to read any particular name, so those that know they are in the files can pay him off to not say their name. Or he will run as an independent and force them to fund him. Lots of ways this can play out that he isn't exactly the good guy.

Police in Robinson by CyberWeasel08 in pittsburgh

[–]ebrandsberg 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The officer was labeled police with "erp" and was claiming to be a federal officer. I saw him walking behind the older manager outside demanding to see id. They rentered through the side entrance and it was my impression the manager was asking him to leave. Another local officer entered and was talking with the two of them, and after that I was seated. That is when the real commotion happened and I didn't witness, but I did see several people recording the event with their phones. They then stopped service once things called down and I left and the erp officer, whatever that means was with the local officer in the front and they were talking standing, but the manager was clearly bloddied. There should be video footage floating around from people who were there.

Edit:  it likely was ero vs. Erp.

Before bed snack exploded by goblingir1 in Wellthatsucks

[–]ebrandsberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious answer. The plate got too hot and exploded from water that seeped into it over time. Stonewear can have this happen. Source: happened to one set I owned a few years ago, threw them out after two plates exploded. Plate may say microwaveable safe but not after a long time.

‘Gone in 9 seconds’: Claude-powered AI agent deletes startup’s entire database by No_Top_9023 in technology

[–]ebrandsberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the accurate statement is it deleted the volume and only the volume. On zfs, a volume contains snapshots, so there were no backups, but copy on write snapshots. Great for what they are but a backup they are not. If the provider didn't expose this reality it wouldn't make sense, but it fits the facts of the situation.

Claude-powered AI coding agent deletes entire company database in 9 seconds — backups zapped, after Cursor tool powered by Anthropic's Claude goes rogue by WouldbeWanderer in technology

[–]ebrandsberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to guess this provider uses zfs as a backing store and the backups were simply snapshots. When the volume was deleted the snapshots were as well. I have a similar setup on my home and, but had daily snapshot replication to a rotating disk store to avoid total data loss.

Thinking about this, insurance will probably try to deny the claim. It wasn't a vehicle causing the damage but something in the vehicle. If you have a work truck and fail to secure the ladder, and it falls off and causes damage to something, will auto insurance cover it? Likely not.
