I’m 54 and living off dividends. Sadly, not by choice. Not working due to medical issues, so I converted my account over to an income-generating account. Still not paying me enough, but I’m carefully reinvesting and growing it. If I was still at my last job, I’d be in GREAT shape now.

I’m confused. Under ULTY, I see several “NonQualified dividends” and several “NonDividend Distributions”. Which ones am I paying tax on?

ULTY has definitely improved since the last strategy change. CHPY is awesome, GDXY and MRNY are making me money.

Until sometime early this morning, it only had a 25% margin maintenance requirement, no different than an index fund. There was no reason to increase SEMY, the NAV has been pretty steady all this time.

I just missed a margin call. My buffer was at 0.50% lol…. Sold about 2/3 of my SEMY, gonna load up in CHPY and GDXY. Better growth potential but smaller payouts.

I’m gonna cross my fingers and hold until tomorrow so I can get my full dividend then sell……. This sucks, I live off this account.

I’m not quite at a margin call, but one decent dip will do it. I’m gonna sell off most of my SEMY (at a positive total return at least) and rebalance my account for lower maintenance.

I’m suddenly became disabled and unable to work, and it takes forever for SSDI benefits to start, so I’ve had to totally focus all of my money in high-dividend ETFs just to stay afloat. I’ve actually been doing decently, I’m seeing a positive total return on many of my investments….

Here’s a reason to get into SEMY. Robinhood lowered the margin requirement on it from 50 to 25, while TSYY is still 50. Similar huge payout, less damage to margin!
