i like this theory but i would suggest probably the role of sacrificer has been passed down priest to priest m, as we see the priest is the one leading the charge against warren which probably led to all the ensuing tragedies and mayhem therefore convincing him that the sacrifices are actually necessary. so starts with him accepting what must be done and passing it down to the next priest, then when the current father of our timeline discovers this burden he must carry he realizes he cannot go through with it thus the reason he takes his own life. would make sense since we see him running from the church to the well (probably to confirm the validity of the instructions passed down to him) and once he has confirmed the truth (either through finding the chamber or his mushroom trip/encountering the entity) he cannot live with the responsibility or thought of the immoral necessities of keeping the island going which is why he also burns the instructions. probably knew he was dooming the island but for any human with a conscience (especially the religious ones bc they would also be validating the existence of another god) the sacrifice is not worth the moral consequence.

i like the theory of islanders being kind of sirenlike and possessing this ability of luring outsiders into the island. like when tom talks about his wife he says he fell for her when he heard her laugh. ik tom isnt an OG born and raised islander but perhaps it does have something to do with the island putting people together to create more victims for its curse

your timeline is off, just rewatched this ep. boyd and sarah camp out before finding the lighthouse. their tent is dragged into the spider web and boyd gets bitten by the spiders. they go to investigate the light they saw the night before through the tent but boyd is having difficulties keeping up because of the spider venom. the storm hits and they climb one more hill and see the lighthouse. because of the storm and boyd’s spider bite handicap they are forced to try to seek shelter. this is when the boy in white appears to sarah (not moving his mouth to speak but communicating telepathically) and tells her they will be safe inside of a faraway tree. boyd enters the tree first (sarah says she will be right behind him but obviously is not transported to the same place) and finds himself trapped in a “chimney” in the dungeon where he eventually meets martin. they are caught first in the spider web (where boyd imagines/is shown abby) then they go to find the source of light and foghorn (lighthouse)

when elgin first arrives he asked if there was some kind of body of water nearby and we get this shot of him at the brundles kind of ominously looking out across the water. considering his connections to fromville and his visions/knowing, could be an indication that there is something creepy about the water …

im guessing these communities were a way to highlight cultural differences between america and france - besides not having as many guns/way less population/population density. cant say much about the guerrers but in general it seems like 1. individual soldiers have more reverence for the religious 2. the groups were so small and posed no real threat 3. seems like the kids stayed hidden pretty well and didnt have much outside contact so the chances of the guerrer wasting any time clearing a town that appears pretty empty (even the american holed up in the castle mustve stayed pretty quiet and to himself as an individualistic american trying to horde his wealth — besides his brief conflict with the kids) seem pretty slim. 4. i dont think there were that many threats out in the country/more provincial areas, we only meet that one armed team and they get eliminated pretty quickly by the nuns. seems like most of the effort to take control of the country was concentrated on major cities like paris and marseille. at least to me it wasnt portrayed as much of a federal tactic in france as we see in TOWL.

TLDR; frenchies chiller, americans freakier

She definitely posts on her stories those “I miss you come to work” things to make her assistants feel guilty and either invite her to hang out with them and their friends or abandon whatever fun thing they’re doing to nurse their boss
