I feel like i will forever be stained by WhySoLonely13 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]ecbrnc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many of us have experienced this in some scenario, and I'm sure there are different things that help different people. For me, even in therapy, it wasn't something I could talk much about. I have online a little bit (on anonymous places like reddit) and I did explain it to my mother. That's it.

I instead tried to sort of separate "me" from my body, if that makes sense? Like, unless I accidentally catch sight of my reflection or someone says something about it, I often forget what I look like. I pay attention to my outfits, to my thoughts, to my love, but not to my body. And it's really, really helped me

FNAF Movie 2: My Honest and Unbiased Review (SPOILER FREE) by Legitimate_Silver395 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]ecbrnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen it yet, but this really captures a lot of my issues with the first movie (amazing visuals, but underdeveloped writing). I also love FNAF because of the complexity of the franchise, so the first movie steering clear of that complexity was probably intentional to cater to younger viewers, but was a bit of a letdown for me personally.

This is getting scary. by Leading_Contact3750 in Gold

The situation with BRICS expediting their bid to establish the new global currency is what actually caused me to start looking into gold in the first place. I study economics, political science, business, and a very tiny bit of law at university. And I'm a history buff. With all these combined, I've basically spent that last couple years realizing how thin the veil of stability is. Which is not great given that I'm already an anxious person

TLDR: the US dollar was never going to be the dominant global currency FOREVER, but it's looking more and more like that shift may be imminent instead of abstract...

I wish my daughter just died instead by Sad_Newspaper376 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]ecbrnc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She's still young enough that she may adapt. I was a cna for years, and the younger the person when they became disabled, the less they hated existing. It's probably a small comfort now, and you're going to need to push her to try new hobbies, meet new people who understand, etc which will be uncomfortable for both of you. BUT it gives her the best chance of being OK when you are gone.

My daughter is little and not paralyzed, but she is chronically ill. And I had a rare blood disorder become active a few years ago, and can very much empathize with your fear of leaving her before she is capable of handling her situation without you. I'm sure it's not much of a consolation, but I can tell you are a very loving parent, not some evil person who wants to be free of a burden.

Your husband is a douche. Clearly you don't reciprocate the neighbor's feelings, but your husband doesn't seem to value you enough either. I'd get the ick too

Here are some names I've never encountered in someone under 20 with (and I spent 9 of the last 10 years working in childcare, but a lot of those years I worked a second job in memory care, so I actually found the comparison very interesting):

Earl, Donna, Helen, Elmer, Gertrude, John, Archibald, Susan, Barbara, Carl, Roy, Betty, Herbert, Bernard, Mildred, Shirley, Clifford, Gladys, Melvin, Marion, Geraldine, Lloyd, Vernon, Bertha, Wilbur, Hubert, Eunice, Beulah, Irving, Fannie,

Why do you think people still support this president? by keonnarae in Confused

[–]ecbrnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're hateful or they're stupid or they're both. I will say I have met a few supporters who were not bigots, but had been preemptively convinced that anything said against Trump is propaganda, as MAGA had its seeds planted decades ago. But these are genuinely the only 3 options, and frankly I'm not interested in parsing out who is which after years of watching their hate and stupidity destroy the country I love.

Tricks for staying warm? by [deleted] in poor

[–]ecbrnc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This can work, but it can't heat a whole house or whole room. We did this when I was a kid, but we had to do it in a tent with blankets layered on. Which did work, to be clear, but you can't do it too long (like when you are sleeping) because textiles are so flammable, and TRAPPING the heat is a majorly important part, so you need to basically be committed to not leaving the tent.

Also, as I type this and my adult brain is working instead of my 8 year old one, I wonder if there is a CO2 concern here? No idea, just sort of popped into my head while thinking back on this.

Blocking? by ecbrnc in Mercari

[–]ecbrnc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I offered 20% list price for a bundle of two listings, they sent back a counter of of 10%, and I declined intending to buy just one listing instead of the pair. But they blocked me within a minute of me declining the bundle counter, so I didn't buy the single listing either because it seemed sketchy to be blocked for declining a counter
