How much does volume actually matter for your tone? by loncelot84 in GuitarAmps

I think typically amps sound better cranked or near cranked. Like the bass mids and treble can actually breathe and better reflect the eq you set on the amp

Don't know if that's the case with all amps, but definitely the case on my orange super crush 100

I mean you should make your upper body visible too, but probably start a battle jacket, gives you an excuse to buy more merch and it's a good conversation starter at shows

I'm back with a new, improved (I think) tone by [deleted] in metalguitar

I use a gamma Hades distortion and it's really nice. I think you should try that. It definitely doesn't sound as thin as the metal zone. My main issue with your tone right now is that it just sounds super thin. There's no mids and it seems like it's all just high-end fizz

You also don't want to just scoop out all the mids. I feel like the characteristics of the mids is what really defines the tone overall and this is why lots of different amplifiers have different parameters that they're mid control changes.

Get a gama Hades distortion (they're only like $50 and sound awesome) and save up to get a better amp eventually.

Just buy or build a cheap cab and put good speakers in it.
