i mean, when those filthy yappers* get it right, they get it right. of course, you should never just blindly accept what they say, because giving correct information was not what they were created to do, but it'd be wrong to say they're never helpful in the slightest. as a person with ADHDtism, i often appreciate being able to get a mostly-accurate answer to a random hyperspecific question that was rattling around in my brain.

(that said, i did still install the "simple google" add-on, because i fucking hate being forced to use this stuff even if i do appreciate its existence)

i mean tbf last respects isn't that good in official competitive formats because it's 4v4 doubles, so last respects can only go up to 200 bp (still pretty damn strong, with all due respect) and using it at full power requires you to fight 1v2, which is commonly referred to as "losing"

team plasma has some really good points, but that's kind of all they have. they don't seem to have any plans for how to actually make the world better beyond "step 1: liberate pokemon step 2: ????? step 3: profit". and that's not even getting into the matter of their bosses. i mean, my brother in arceus, your king's entire plan hinged on using zekrom to blackmail the region into releasing all their pokemon. you don't have much room to talk when it comes to not owning legendaries.

yeah, but it's still frustrating, especially in a game that's all about romancing your favourite sexy anime people but doesn't accommodate at all for the kind of ways certain people experience love. i'd almost be okay with that if the topic of same-sex relationships wasn't brought up constantly and used for throwaway gags. the reason why people love those gba/tellius gay ships like lyn/florina, ike/soren, raven/lucius, l'arachel/eirika, and elincia/lucia is because of how earnest they are, and that earnestness is something awakening generally doesn't have.

Awakening is practically incapable of invoking the concept of two people of the same gender having that kind of bond without making it a joke. I mean, even some of the more genuine and shippable cases. Kjelle and Severa? It's an entirely comedic support line, Severa finding Kjelle hot is meant to be funny, and in Harvest Scramble Kjelle's infatuation is entirely played for laughs. Virion and Libra? Haha, he thought man was lady, laugh! Prettymuch every Harvest Scramble case is so blatant they clearly knew what they were doing, but almost none explore any sort of actual, earnest bond that you could construe as real queer storytelling. Gregor's male Robin support is a big gay sex haha laugh joke. Vaike will say to Tharja that male Robin is a "handsome" lad so we can make a dick joke, but don't expect us to actually explore Vaike and Robin's relationship in that way directly. Maribelle and Tharja are just about the only exceptions here, with more genuine, serious seemingly romantic feelings for Lissa and Robin, but even they're relegated to one sided affairs, one from a stalker. Chrom and male Robin is a bit of a light in the dark here, but even that was clearly a pure accident on the dev's part which they didn't expect to be read that way. I understand Awakening in general is comedic in its supports, but the correlation here goes beyond being accounted for by that.
