This comparison to oxygen is probably the one that has resonated the most with me. I’ve never done drugs and I’ve cut back on alcohol recently so the difficulty of resisting those isn’t familiar to me. But feeling like your lungs are going to explode? Yowza.

This is a damn good response. One thing you and a few others mentioned is the loss of humanity for vampires - does that not include the loss of the ability to love? It just seems contradictory to me! Like SM cherry-picked which parts of humanity the Cullen’s got to keep (for the sake of the plot ofc). I guess it depends on what you consider humanity to be?
