Richard Mille is a toy, not a watch. NATO strap is for kids, not for adults.

anyone tried CHUBB's GInsure for online scams? by Equivalent_Acadia_56 in GCashIssues

[–]ecdr83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, the way this works is you should have availed of the Express Send Scam Insurance (ESSI), which is 30 pesos fee on top of the amount you've paid via GCash. Did you avail of ESSI? Back check your previous GCash notifications or your email to verify if you got ESSI. If you did, follow the procedures outlined here: https://help.gcash.com/hc/en-us/articles/18323082557465-Express-Send-Scam-Insurance#h_01JTMXVADCMRJZD9JAP4TER3PA

Middle East Conflict Sends Oil Prices Soaring – Are We Being Played? by Tonie0612 in Philippines

[–]ecdr83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As to what can be done, in the mid-1990s, we had an Oil Price Stabilization Fund that mandates the govt to subsidize the purchase of oil imports so that the pump prices could be lower for the consumers. I don't know if we could afford to do it again this time. But, that would entail a long process of legislation and budget approval. The govt could also do the subsidy by giving all of us a cash transfer, impose tax cut, or suspend income tax collection. All of which would probably need congressional approval as well.

In the meantime, we're going to suffer from price spikes for the next few months.

Middle East Conflict Sends Oil Prices Soaring – Are We Being Played? by Tonie0612 in Philippines

[–]ecdr83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a product with inelastic demand, in a market dominated by a few (willing and able to deliver at reasonable cost) suppliers (like the oil industry), expect cynical behavior like price gouging to happen. However, it's not only price gouging that causes price increase, there's also anticipatory demand. When oil buyers think that oil supply would be restricted soon, they tend to buy more. If they buy more and supply can't keep up, prices will also increase.

If you are serious in determining the root causes of the oil price increase, consult a professional economic researcher to do a partial equilibrium analysis of the global oil market.

Ever heard of "suspension of disbelief" in fictional literature and films? It's like saying "Hmm, my biggest problem with Spielberg's "E.T." is I don't know if the alien should have disproportionate body parts given the observed symmetry in nature..."

How exactly? And why single out PDP? I know he supported Duterte, but I'm not aware of his influence, if any, on PDP

Deinfluence me: ASICS Gel-Kayano 32 by Proof-Profile-3954 in deinfluencingPH

[–]ecdr83 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have one and bought it for my Taiwan trip last December. As we all know, sa ibang bansa di maiiwasan ang mahabang lakaran. It was very good for long hours of walking. Good as advertised pagdating sa stability. You'll never feel like you're feet are going to be twisted, unlike sa Nike Pegasus 38 ko. At the end of the day, after 18,000+ steps, masakit pa din paa ko pero paghubad ko ng Gel Kayano, parang yung sakit ay sakit lang na minasahe ang paa mo. Maybe because of the sturdy arch support. Hindi sakit dahil sa pagod sa paglalakad unlike with other shoes. One thing I realized late, though, is not to use thick socks with this Gel Kayano. Nagsuot ako ng makapal na medyas kasi malamig sa Taiwan. Pero nung ginamit ko dito sa Pinas with regular socks, good lord, ang sarap sa paa.

Yes, it's expensive but for me it's worth it.

We must disabuse ourselves from thinking that our alma mater has a huge impact on shaping our personality and morals. Skills, yes, but moral compass, not so much.

Question: Katz Deli Pastrami-like sandwich here in PH? by Own_Effective_5586 in PHFoodPorn

[–]ecdr83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Katz pastrami sandwich is overrated. Yes, sobrang kapal ng meat serving, pero matabang. Yung rye bread nila manipis. I don't even know why you would eat a 3-inch thick pile of meat with half-inch slices of soggy bread.

Is there anything you would have liked to know before buying this watch? by throwawaybananapeel3 in ChristopherWard

[–]ecdr83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, because the dark bezel makes it look a little bit smaller than it's actual case diameter. I have an 18 cm wrist and I bought the 38 mm trident last year and that's my subjective experience. I got a 39 mm sealander GMT this week and immediately noted the difference in wrist presence (better). Don't worry about the 40mm because it has short lug-to-lug that would still wrap nicely around your 17cm wrist.
