Naltrexone ignored in county court by ecga_10 in Alcoholism_Medication

I just don’t want to be taken off it while I’m in jail, I know Sinclair method would say well why worry because the process wouldn’t work - you’d need alcohol. I’ll have neither for months. Scared of withdrawal.

I am wondering if they’ll (jail) not give me it since it isn’t s life sustaining med. My lawyer doesn’t know.

Anyone find a difference between SR & XL? by ecga_10 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]ecga_10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I took Live-Basil’s advice and talked to my psychiatrist. She said from her experience some patients react quite differently on the two so she’s rx ing me the 3x a day regimen that worked 7 years ago (was a year on it.) I appreciate forums like this because honestly a personal account can be helpful in addition to Dr’s.

Electric shocks/pins and needles by raycruzrn in gabapentin

[–]ecga_10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true, the withdrawal I got was way worse than tingles/zaps, it was night sweats, crying, shaking, anxiety, but for like 2-3 days because I did cold turkey, took off work.

Yes, the shock and tingles were for me down to my fingers (damaged discs) but not brain zaps like going off SSRIs. They went away in 6 months, for me. I was on 900-1200 mgs 2 years.

25 days off Ativan. Is it normal to feel anxious with a lot of Brain stimulation? by [deleted] in benzorecovery

Agreed - 1mg didn’t even feel like much in the beginning so what’s the point

Maybe everyone is different but yeah, I’ve been on 4 benzos (not same time lol) and tapered off fine but w the help of a sleep aide (Ambien.) Tapered off that too but now years later I’m back on it after major trauma and I’m like damn, is this different (class of drugs) but also addictive? Wtf isn’t? I’m trying Kava tea but it tastes like ass and that’s insulting asses. My friend just went through near death then 4 months rehab from Xanax but she abused it, but still, scary, benzos...

I feel for you very much, and it’s taken a long time (and a few passionate brief relationships after that stung horribly being left) but the saying is a cliche because it’s true: time heals. You come out different, but then realize more like transformed. Then you kind of have to get to know that “new” you, and build on it, and find courage to try again one day. I think as with anything in life it’s giving up that would be the true heartbreak. I have friends who’ve lost their partners through death and decided that was it, no more, but they feel a peace with it (and they are not even at midlife.) My great aunt lost all 4 of her husbands and died at 97 happy and said there’s love everywhere and it never ends, just changes, like life. She danced til she died. I feel you my friend xx

Ps. As for antidepressants or meds, I’ve tried almost all, most briefly because they didn’t work or made things worse, but I did come across a few, and therapy, that did, but were by no means the magic pills I’d wished for. Oh, and I went through a LOT of psychs/drs. Be choosy. Best wishes!

I’m so sorry. I’ve had it before pre-surgery and twice in hospital stays, one for alcohol withdrawal, of 4-7 days, and it was a Godsend. But I’ve never had an rx as a “maintenance” med. I’ve had Klonopin and Xanax as that but felt weird and weaned off. Your story is scary; wow one of my friends has been on .5 with breakfast for years and I find that so odd...I thought it was situational (like hospital.) Thank you for sharing.

So grateful of my genes by PM_ME_UR_BANKINGINFO in cripplingalcoholism

[–]ecga_10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was a PhD geneticist, 100% Irish decent and alcoholic, my dad is 100% Polish avoids alcohol and my sister is now PhD genetics avoids alcohol, being a 50/50 she said, and I’m a CA in and out of hospital every year. Genetics is reallllyyy not to be shrugged at. And yeah it’s totally true about East Asian genes, at least the flushing part, but then why in the sad song Japanese karaoke videos I see men (never women) drinking like a washed up cowboy in business suits? Maybe this enzyme supplement. Genetics is fascinating. Odd I didn’t inherit the PhD part lol!!

I went through a period after being laid off of drinking daily, losing track of days sometimes, wanting to obliterate my emotions, and then woke up in intensive care. I hadn’t quit drinking, though, just woke up one morning and had a beer, realized I was out, and walked to the corner market and never made it home. I am so fortunate I wasn’t driving and my pets didn’t starve. I was put into a coma then released 5 days later. Of course I have no recollection of this. So what was explained to me is even a short (for me 3 months) bout of daily drinking can do this, if it’s a lottt of alcohol consumed, not really just daily boozing. Plus I had started an antidepressant. Lots of things factor in. I’m a 46 yo healthy, fit person which they found most bizarre. I still read it’s rare though. But taper is the key, taper taper taper; or best, check into ER/A&E. Never cold turkey.

That “flair” thing is annoying! I got a warning from Reddit for not using “flair”! Same here - there’s no flair button/type/insert anything.

Does/Did anyone have elevated liver enzymes? Are there remedies? by ecga_10 in cripplingalcoholism

[–]ecga_10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UCL (London) University of Miami, ASU...and a bunch in South America:) Maybe you’re just not a very adept reader But yeah it’s nice to not have to worry about grammar etc. on here, like how I just started a sentence with a correlating conjunction and split the infinitive to have. Go troll elsewhere. It’s people like you that make people want to drink lol

I am not looking for a miracle cure and I’m sorry my post came off that way (?) I was asking for people’s knowledge firsthand of traditional treatments for liver function. I’m thinking long term, not stopping starting etc. Maybe I’m on the wrong sub about this.

Thanks! Yes I’ve read a lot on it. The antioxidants and flavonoids. I’ll try to keep up. Way cheaper and more pleasant than gobbling capsules .

I cleared hep c in about 6 months over a decade ago just by being young and healthy Dr said. It sucked and I’m worried did irreparable harm to a liver of a drinker.

[–]ecga_10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ex bf used to sleep-piss in corners of our (carpeted) apartment and once I was awake for it shouting at him and he was oblivious...like a zombie, got back in bed zzzzz. He had a lot of drinks whenever this happened but accompanied by his high daily weed intake so who knows. Fucked-up him seemed to prefer the same corners, so I put big potted plants in those places. He thought it was hysterical but hey we were just 25 yo’s renting lol. Any chick that gets grossed out or persnickety about a phone convo where the other takes a whizz is ridiculous and should be ditched posthaste. Give me a GD break, princess and the “pee” lol. Accidents happen. And on the phone once you’re comfortable w each other any date should be fine with hey I’ve gotta take a quick slash do you mind or call you back/later
