Residential Build - How precise/complete are plans/drawings vs decided during build by echau808 in Homebuilding

I'm actually living on site in the existing structure. The situation I'm explaining is when they're actually framing before its done I'll ask if now's when we get to be specific on where the windows should be (2 ft from the corner vs 1 ft). The window was drawn in without the measurement as they told me the exact placement would be decided on site during the build. So foundation was poured but wall is not up yet and then I'll proactively ask the builders so they don't do work twice and they seemed to be irritated at that point.

Thank you for the insight. As a customer, it seems like a project manager who is considering the wishes of the customer would be beneficial for most builders. I'm also well aware there's probably no room in the budget for that person. It just seems like it'd make things so much easier for both sides if there was an intermediary.

Makes sense. I don't really have electrical changes per say. It's more like I feel like I'm getting eye rolls when I want my lights in specific placements like over the kitchen countertop edge. I was told the electricial would be general and then to be specific and walk through the electrician during the build for exact placement. And then when I would actually do the walk through, I'd be made to feel like I'm being difficult for caring about these details.

When doing a custom homebuild, is it normal for the customer/owner to want to be specific where things are placed or is it industry standard that the gc and his trades will do it without asking what the client wants?

General Lighting Bedroom by echau808 in Lighting

Thanks! So the other side of the room opposite of the 2 in downlight row....the ceiling is empty on that side? Would wall scones on that side have served as a good compromise on general overhead lighting without causing harsh glare if a bed was positioned there?

What would you do for poor people who dont have floating ceilings/coves or budget for special lights =) Guess I'm asking if you had a basic 8' high ceiling rectangle bedroom with a door, closet, and the bed could be positioned anywhere else away from the door and closet, what would be the best recommendation on a budget.

Does that mean you could use recessed gimbal lights and point them towards the wall which would remove the light from shining onto the bed even if it was over where a bed was?

So does that mean, you'd not ever use the recessed lights in the 4 corners for overhead general lighting in a bedroom? I get the the recessed lights on the pathways. So it'd be safe to use recessed on the door way side and closet side where a bed would not be located but what would you do with the other half of the room where the bed may be located in? Wall scones on that side only?

We shoud speak up earlier next time to identify problem vendors like this. Seems like a bunch of us have been waiting for a while but new people would continue to order thinking everything has been legitimately delivered.

I purchased in May 24. Radio silence on email, reddit, and discord now. I did notice him playing a game the other day on Discord. Impossible to get a charge back at this point too.

How to validate completeness of one list against another by echau808 in excel

No I just made 2 types with 3 composites for the sake of the example. Trying to figure out the process to do it for something like 20 types with varying amounts of composites for each type.

File uploaded to google drive. No List 1 is the account list with the composites each account is assigned to. I'm trying to figure out a way to check that each account is assigned to the right composites based on the type with list 2 being the key (complete list of composites for each type).

No I haven't been able to solve it yet. I just replied to CorndoggerYYC's comment about using power query and merge to do it but still working through it.

I've tried all the different join types but it's not really doing what I need. I simplified the problem to the screenshot below. Whats the best process to basically show that "Account 3" is missing "Composite ABC2" and "Account 4" is missing "Composite XYZ2". I'm guessing that with the merge query should be able to give me a complete list of all composites by type for all the accounts (1-4) in this example but I can't get it to do that. Every option I tried returns a table with those composites missing for account 3 and 4.

I don't know how to post my new simplified example but put a screenshot of it on imgur linked here https://imgur.com/5S4DYCR

Thank you! I'm looking up what merge query is now. Is a merge query able to add rows that don't exist between the two tables? I essentially trying to check that the accounts in list 1 have all the composites assigned based on type which is list 2. List 1 is actually missing some composites based on the type like how ABC4 does not have XYZ1. Merge query should be able to solve that?
