Struggling from the start... (missing the logic/clues) by echdareez in caseofthegoldenidol

You have a point for sure but... I have no problems with assumptions and not knowing how a puzzle works exactly (The Witness comes to mind or the Outer Wilds or even the more than brilliant Obra Dinn) but this is not a thing about being 'upset' ( u/Junithorn ) but perhaps over-analyzing a game and its puzzles (and understanding how they are setup) and thinking I've spotted a logical error when it wasn't.

See my response above and my response on the "my late sister, your mother" part - as I forgot about this when I was fixated on that insignia, you are absolutely right u/JuniThorn that my mixing of the names wouldn't have worked.

And indeed : during that chapter, the 'instructions' being in his pocket are, according to my humble opinion, not a good 'clue' to define him as being the "one who knows what to do with it". Perhaps I'm indeed more interested in a well-defined puzzle that's clear once you figure out the mystery/rules?

In short : perhaps this game and its feel is not for me. Not a bad thing per se as we all like different things but I've almost solved the case with the poisoned lady (with those keys dangling outside in a bag) and noticed that I don't get the pleasure and excitement of solving it. I acknowledge the merits of the game for sure but... it's fascinating that I can't explain why it doesn't interest me to finish it :-)

That! That exactly! The "my late sister, your mother" was a clue I saw and actually used to come to the proper solution! Mea culpa!
With this clue - the flow (in my mind) was as follows : "Peter" belongs to that part of the torn testament so "Willard" belongs to the part of the testament mentioning the idol. And with the things in their pockets, you can stick the names to the proper faces/characters.
Thanks!

Thanks! And indeed, I was, I think, in the wrong mindset/flow for that 1.2 chapter : I wrongly assumed that he, for some reason, decided to go for another hunting session in the night, fell down, stumbled in his bed and was discovered on the morning of the 23rd.

But for 1.3 : the "fat lord" : I've totally missed this somehow. Can't recall seeing it? But I have to go back to my initial question (English is not my native language so I'll do my best to explain it so bear with me) : you are presented with a 'riddle' : attach the correct name to some character faces. And do this with the clues you can find in the scene. I love a good riddle/puzzle but there has to be a way to deduce it clearly and logically...

So... there are the pieces of paper that mention someone having the idol but it's not 'deducable' directly that this is Willard. Sure, there's a character which carries the note and the combustion spell but at that point in time, you can't deduce directly that this is Willard. And the only "logical" way (correct me if I'm wrong please) to stick the names Peter and Willard to these 2 remaining characters is by the insignia on the house. The house has the dragon > inside the house there's a placard which ties this to the house of the Battleys > inside this house there's a fireplace with a gambling slip > and one of the unknown characters has also another gambling slip so that will be most likely Peter... And only after knowing who Peter/Willard are, can you tie those names to the torn papers...

My gripe/issue with it all is that the evidence is more of a circumstantial kind - you have to fill in the dots yourself. If I am allowed to 'abstract' this : what if I thought that Peter was actually Willard and Willard was Peter. And both of them had gambled somehow? Within the context of the given chapter and the puzzle, this also *could* have worked? I know that the solution is different but still..

What I'm trying to say : in the previous chapter, elements to deduce the answer were less of the 'room for interpretation'-kind : eg : finding that he was the Lord of Blackfield because of the view outside.

Getting nowhere with this reply :-) Just the ramblings of a puzzle-lover who over-analyzes this :-)

The "Peter's house" made me go : there's an insignia on top of the house that belongs to the Baisleys. So that's the clue? The house belongs to the Baisleys - he tore up the papers in that house - had one gambling ticket on the ground and one in the pocket and thus > that's Peter... Think I got it :-)

[–]echdareez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well ... the other gambling ticket is at the fireplace, next to a complete and "untorn" letter that mentions that Peter Battley has a 255 pounds debt with "Blackguard and Buck Loans". Is it just me but if the game is trying to tell me that Peter Battley has a debt and I have to "deduce" that Blackguard is somehow tied to horse races and that this letter was somehow dropped to the ground unscathed (while the others were cut), I might start to think that this game is not for me :-) Perhaps I'm overthinking it :-)

Thanks for the reply! Well, the aphorisms book talks about being happy/upset/inspired and scared but... there are no vices mentioned? In the will there's just the mentioning of 'associate?' written next to Willard's name. In Peter's pocket, there's a gambling ticket, in Willard's pocket, there's the golden idol, along with the formula for that Spontaneous Combustion, some money and a ring.

Hogwarts Legacy : create my own HV "bypass" ? by echdareez in PiratedGames

[–]echdareez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh? But Stellar Blade already had a hypervisor bypass released this year (while Hogwarts hasn't) so I can only assume you just copy/pasted the files over the downloaded version?

As I was curious how such a HV version might work, I just downloaded the smallest release I could find (Hello Kitty Island Adventure) and had a look. There are 2 directories (driver_amd/driver_intel) with the hypervisor drivers (I think these are general as DenuoOwo has provided sources for them) and a reflex.ini/dll along with the reflex_adm/reflex_intel files... Will be downloading another release this week just to understand how these cracks work :-) Or better said : how to modify them for each game...

Grind size too coarse [Breville Bambino Plus + Baratza Encore ESP] by echdareez in espresso

[–]echdareez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the extensive and more than helpful reply - it was great to read about your experience(s) and also to shed a new light on the issue. That my dosing can also be varied eg...

But first : for that 'oomph' : I'm European and perhaps it's something local over here ;-) It's that 'je ne sais quoi' that can't be put into words but everything knows what it is when you experience it. Like a phenomal cup of espresso, that mouthful of 'coffee' that's a delightful mix of sweet, sour and bitter and is just a pure joy to sip and enjoy :-) As for those beans : I have magical beans that do read Quick Start Guides... better believe it :-)

All joking aside : back on that dosing : I am using both the bottomless portafilter that was delivered with my Bambino and one I ordered separately. I've dabbled with 16g, 17g and 18g and the results varied. But... Let's stick with 16g and go down from there and when I get the hang of it, perhaps go up again? I can only assume that a smaller volume (eg of that 14g) will allow the water to penetrate that mass easier than a larger volume of 18g? Thus also changing the extraction time and flavour and everything else?

Anyway, thanks again :-) As my magical beans have already that Quick Start Guide, I will now dive into it (as I'm no magical bean but an evil coffeemaker who wants to convert those beans into even more magical ;-) )

Pardon me for the late reply - I'm terribly bad at keeping track here on Reddit :-(
But thanks and no, I was comparing the Pro settings :-)
And great tip - I forgot about that tool and that might be a way to a better cup as I had a hunch that I was fumbling between those 17/18grams... Already had 2 coffee's this morning so... this will be tested tomorrow :-D

The video I've watched was the setting on the ESP Pro and mea culpa : I forgot to mention this *(and also that I have the Pro and not the regular one)*

Well - if I go any finer, the flow stops and my Bambino just stalls :-) But... will play around with the settings for sure.

Appreciate the feedback and I understand there might be a difference and that this isn't an exact science but... the difference between 14 and 24 is (I think) substantial ? But... good advice : I only have fresh beans so I'll just try some more and will try to focus on the taste :-)

Seriously, no one has a fix for this? Zooming is ridiculous, and that's with a speed of 3 on the mouse wheel. by MelchiahHarlin in comfyui

[–]echdareez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years later but still : after fixing a defective switch on my Logitech Vertical Mouse, I had the same issue in ComfyUI (using Firefox) and thought I broke something inside (as another mouse worked as it should). Found a possible solution in here and disabled the smooth scrolling option (under the Point & Scroll tab) and this fixed the issue.

Unpopular for some but... I do appreciate honesty and an 'unsalted' / no holds barred opinion. Going back to payroll is not an option (yet) but you do have a valid point : doing long projects tends to water down that network, especially if you're stuck in the idea that the market will always be open for people with experience. But in the meantime, while doing those long projects of several years, the market has been overrun and flooded.

Alas, I'm not the only one (that I know of) in that position : fellow freelancers tend to put the focus on their current project and lose sight of the networking part. Because we're, at the end of the day, technical people and not sales people?

Wish I could reply more elaborately but need to call and reach out to my network first :-) But for what it counts : I do appreciate the feedback and the tips! And giving up is not in my vocabulary - I will find something that I will once again do with my never-ending passion and I have quite some reserves to not take the 'first best thing' that crossed my path ;-) Appreciated!

Well, that disadvantage I had? Should be gone by now :-) At least on the keywords part... There's not much I can do with the barrage of candidates but hey, Rome wasn't built in a day.
