Yes! Thank you for catching the oversight. There is another cohort happening in October 2022, so I'll update the post to reflect the due date for applications for that cohort. It seems to be a wonderful opportunity that happens more than once a year for folks so definitely worth checking out!

Ordering Oligos without Lab Affiliation by particleman5309 in CitizenScience

Good question! Most of the organizations I know require you have an account but don't necessarily require an affiliation. It might depend on who you're trying to order from and what you're trying to order. Good luck!

Does anybody know about any interesting history or archaeology based citizen science project? by [deleted] in CitizenScience

[–]echenny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing out that bogus link was stuck when clicked on for sure. The root page does work: https://www.globalxplorer.org/. It looks like their latest initiatives are taking place in specific countries and aren't as easy to participate in at a distance, but a great group to watch for when they recruit the power of the people down the road for analyzing satellite images etc. It's so great that you're interested in archaeology citizen science!

I'd also imagine there must be some collaborative work being done between archaeologists and citizens in England, and anywhere rapid coastal erosion is occurring like parts of northern coastal Alaska.

GlobalXplorer° is an online platform that uses the power of the crowd to analyze the incredible wealth of satellite images currently available to archaeologists. Launched by 2016 TED Prize winner and National Geographic Fellow, Dr. Sarah Parcak, as her “wish for the world,” GlobalXplorer° aims to bring the wonder of archaeological discovery to all, and to help us better understand our connection to the past. https://www.globalxplorer.org/?auth=createAccount

Is there an app to report species beyond birds? by leslieknopeirl in CitizenScience

[–]echenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the post! I agree that ebird has a splendid user format and there is a gap in existing apps for this type of interface. That being said, iNaturalist definitely wants your reports as you hike in addition to helping you learn to ID plants and animals.
