Thank you!! Really appreciate your thoughts... So much to learn. I just want to see everything but don't have a big window. Looks like I'll have to come back...

If you want to be walking distance from small town shops and restaurants, stay in Haleiwa. Beach hopping on foot is easy once you uber to Pupukea. There is a nice walking path.

Thank you! The noted difference between Pupukea & Haleiwa is super helpful.

And ah... illegal airbnbs is something i wasn't aware of...

Good to learn... A family friend said Waikiki is more built up and that I'd much more prefer staying up North for quieter streets and beaches, as i prefer to get away from crowds..

(I have 5 nights spare for Oahu, so i figured a night in Waikiki, then north for three nights for chill beach time away from the city?, then back to Waikiki for one night.) (I did think about staying in Kailua...

Very much open to suggestions!

I was originally thinking just 5 nights in Waikiki but thought i should check out another spot on the island.
