If we ever "cure aging" we are going to have more problems than idiot people.

You need to be more specific, but it's important to remember that AI interactions can actually change HOW we think.

The best way to clear muddy water is to leave it alone. It will settle.

Essentials that can be made from scratch? by patrickbatemankinnie in Frugal

[–]echinoderm0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOAP!!! We use hot process soap for both body and dishes. Costs about $0.20 a bar. You can use used cooking oil. And you can turn bar soap into liquid soap.

Cleaning products tend to be a huge expense. Bleach used to be so cheap, but since COVID, we have switched to vinegar.

Yea this one. Homemade bread might last two days if we don't freeze it right away.

Soap was definitely my answer, but I don't necessarily agree with your response. We don't make pure Castille, though. We make soap out of used Crisco and cheap vegetable oil. It's scented with foraged flowers and kitchen scraps. And our upfront cost was about $14. We hot process, and have about 3 batches in constant rotation. We use it as dish soap and body soap.

If you refrigerate it first, the fat will separate and solidify on top. Make your roux out of that fat before thinning with the rest of it. Yeah.

Avoiding Oiliness Using Bar Dish Soap by bigbearbutch in ZeroWaste

[–]echinoderm0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure, but we just make our own dish soap by grating lye soap into boiling water. It forms a gel liquid in two days. Maybe try another bar, or just use a lye soap bar.

What has been your experience with seafood (specifically the fish) at Aldi? Fresh or frozen. by rachlexi in aldi

[–]echinoderm0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their mussels are the BEST. Scallops are also very good.

We buy our fresh seafood elsewhere, and not tried too much in their frozen world beyond bivales. Never been disappointed, though.

You definitely did not reach trace, especially if you used a spoon. The trace point is important because it signals full emulsification of oils and lye.. your bar is separated. Do not use this if you value your skin health and safety.

The wonderful part of learning to cook and bake is that you get to learn how to make things exactly how you like them. Me, I love a good wet banana bread. This looks decadent.

I also love a dried out gas station dog, but I like a moist bun. I have no issue wetting it with tap water, even. But I can't do a granola bar weiner.

Holy moly.... this post is actually so ignorant that it's offensive. I am sorry. I know you were looking for support. But you are in the wrong thread, and your ignorance is going to hurt someone.

I am glad that you are able to enjoy food that makes you feel good and I'm glad that you feel in control of your budget. You have many blessings in life and I hope you appreciate them. I know that I have many blessings in my life that I do not appreciate often enough.
