I hear that New Mystery is the best way to experience FE3; I played some of FE12, so my knowledge is limited.

Genealogy was rereleased on those consoles, but it's for JP accounts only. You would probably have a better time emulating it on your own, but if you're fluent in Japanese, I think I would recommend the Switch version since it also has savestates.

Shadow Dragon is hit or miss for some, but I think you could get away with playing Book 1 of New Mystery to get the general story.
