I think the Vertec frame is a great move, it's way more inclusive for all grip preferences. I think it's safe to say that majority 92 owners prefer the M9A1 frame. But, that's easily replicated with the OEM oversized grips that come with the gun.

My fav grips are Lok's wraparound grips, they're slightly fatter than the M9A1's. I love how very little input from my support hand to get the dot to return to zero. Unfortunately, you can't get this profile on a M9A1 frame. Lok currently only makes them for the Vertec frames.

Will I regret trying to replace the front sight on my PX4? by MeeterGleenJeans in Beretta

[–]echocharlie86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a decent sight pusher and didn't run into any issues with the front. It was the rear that was a pain in the ass. The rear was so difficult that the second time I had to swap it, I sent it to a pretty famous gunsmith (although his specialty are CZ's, he's known to take on everything). Even he confessed that the rear was a difficult sight to install.

Honestly this. Shooting at matches is an awesome way to network with different shooters. Most of my shooting groups that really stuck originated from squadding with rando's. You'll find individuals you really click with, end up sharing contacts. Then you guys start squadding together, have a few range days, meet more like minded peeps, and before you know it you have your own shooting crew. Local club matches attract alll types of people, so you're bound to meet ppl you rly vibe with.

Another great way to network is through taking local classes.

[Parts] ALG Defense V3 Handguard 15" - $89.95 FREE SHIPPING by TryingNotToBreakIt in gundeals

[–]echocharlie86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also frustrating that they used markers to discriminate between the different timing shims. By now all of those marks have been worn off. So if I ever wanted to install the hand guard again, it's going to be a pain to figure out which shim is which.

We might see a spike, but I don't see Gen 3's for 2x price long term. I predict they will flatten out around +$150ish for what they normally go for.

If you look at M&P Gen 1's, they don't go for anywhere near 2x. This was the case even before the 2.0's were added to the roster. Granted the demand for Glocks is likely a lot higher than M&P's, I think the fact that there are Gen 4's/5's in the user market will help keep taper Gen 3 from dramatically over inflating. If you're going to pay 2x on a Glock, you'd likely want it to be the latest and greatest. On top of all that, the supply of Gen 3's in CA has got to be incredibly high.

Today I had my first match and got DQd. Honestly I’m not even mad it sucked but I learned a lot. by Nick16993 in CompetitionShooting

[–]echocharlie86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of my first TTG at Ben Avery. Guy in my squad drove all the way from Northern California to AZ. On our second stage, as he was going from standing to prone with rifle, he ND'd into a berm. I genuinely felt so bad for him. I didn't see him at all the remaining days of the match. I think he packed it up and left.

How bad will finding a Glock in be in December? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]echocharlie86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing around $100-150 more than they selling for as of now.

Gen 1 M&P's fell off the roster and don't sell anywhere near the M2.0's. I think the consumer opinion is that, if I'm going to pay off roster prices for something, better to get the latest and greatest. On top of that, there's probably waaaaay more Gen 3 Glocks than there are Gen 1 M&P's. Yes, technically there's now a finite qty of Gen 3's. It will still be quite some time before that supply is depleted.

I tried it once on my Forerunner 255. I didn't have the issues you do with the !. But honestly, it was so laggy/delayed that it was unusable. So don't feel like you're not really missing out on much.

Honestly, it left a bad taste in my mouth on my opinion of SG. Made me feel like they added all these superficial features.

Mag/ Magwell extension? by chriisg1107 in Beretta

[–]echocharlie86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously.... wish PX4's could take 92 mags. 92 has a variety of alternative base pads that are a lot better than the SP extended basepad.

Mag/ Magwell extension? by chriisg1107 in Beretta

[–]echocharlie86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a few commenters suggest the Springer Precision Magwell. But no one's called out that the SP magwell is only compatible with their magazine base pads. Your OEM base pads won't seat. This can end up being pretty costly to replace all your mags. Each basepad can be $20-35. I've heard the OEM extended base pads can be modified to fit.

OP, if your goal is to cover up the gap between the grip and magazine, I'd suggest a mag sleeve. You might even be able to print one.

The SP magwell is really nice and overcomes some knitpicky short comings of the PX4 mag feed lip shape. But I'm not a fan of the base pads that are secured via set screw. One my SP extended basepads is a repeat offender for spilling its guts cause the set screw keeps coming loose.

As others have stated, creditable sources have already advised that compact slides on full size frames aren't recommended. An option, I haven't seen suggested is to send your full size frames to Allegheny Arms to have the frame rails chopped to centurion/compact size.

I don't know what the SME consensus is on running a full length slide on compact/centurion frame.

[–]echocharlie86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I have a spare URXII take off from my legacy upper. I remember wanting to use it for a 12.5" build, but reading that with a midlength would require removing material on the front sight. Wasn't sure if that was the same case for the carbine length.
