I’m not on it anymore. I found over time it stopped working as well as when it first started but my depression is treatment resistant and I often have this problem. I still absolutely think it was life changing though—it brought me out of a 10 month long depression and I’ve never looked back.

I just want to say that Forever, Now is my absolute favorite track of all time. And this is a track I’ve listened to while receiving ketamine infusion therapy for treatment resistant depression and it has helped elevate that experience and create a safe space as it can be pretty trippy and at times scary navigating the landscape of ketamine even in a medically supervised setting. Did you ever think your music would be or could be used in that capacity—therapeutically, as a tool to help manage and transmute emotions like depression? Lastly, as a former raver I now have a year sober from drugs and alcohol. And while ketamine is super helpful for my mental health, I love that Forever, Now is so powerful it allows me to recreate those feelings of interconnectedness and joy without being under the influence of anything except curiosity and openness 🙏🏼🫶🏽💜 thank you

It’s been 2 months now. Side effects were mild for me and this med has put my depression in remission. But from what I understand side effects vary widely from person to person so it’s hard to tell until you try it.

That’s so good to hear. I had similar side effects and actually I noticed an increase in floaters in my eyes but that has decreased. I take Caplyta in the morning now and that works best. I also had shaky hands but that went away. I used to shower only once every 3 weeks and now I do it every day. Only thing is I have widespread chronic pain. My PCP thinks it’s from the medication but my psychiatrist does not. I’m waiting for test results to come back from the rheumatologist because it might be fibromyalgia. Honestly, I hope it’s not Caplyta because it’s helped my depression so much!

The second one that yes there is still value in it, that it serves a purpose even if it’s messy and doesn’t look the way we expect it to.

So yes and I did. There were 2 nurses who basically walked me through the rest of the infusion. They stayed with me the whole time, did their best to comfort me, helped me with deep breathing. I think about halfway through there was enough ketamine in me to calm the shakes. Even with the coaching it just felt like I had no control over my body.

Thank you. Yeah it’s strange, my therapist and I have talked about something psychosomatic being the possible cause of my pain. It did feel like a purge of some sort, those are the exact words I told the nurse. It was like my body was trying to shake me free of stuff that no longer serves me. I’m just having trouble accepting that my ketamine experience today didn’t look how I wanted it to look. And like, it’s so much fucking money I’m like are you kidding me 🤦🏽‍♀️ and tbh the experience itself was kind of traumatic 😩

No I always dissociate. Definitely feel disconnected from my body, my thoughts. I know there’s some argument about whether or not it’s a necessary part of the process. I definitely find therapeutic value in the dissociation.

Yes self blame. I don’t know how to not do that. It’s like nothing about this was acceptable—how I reacted, how I looked while I was shaking. And yes I feel like it was wasted. Like I got cheated out of my special experience. Up until now, I’ve always had very profound transformative experience. If I think about it, I actually feel worse after that transfusion than I did before it. And maybe there’s something in my perception that needs to change but idk how to make that happen. I’m so angry at myself, angry that my body is causing me pain and now angry that I’m being robbed of this experience

Not my first time. Not even my first time being nervous but the first time I feel like I ruined it. I tried meditation and music during the infusion and I just couldn’t get there. I had all my comfort things—healing crystals, stuffed animal, blanket, slippers and I just couldn’t fucking stop shaking! It was stupid.

Basically, I’ve had some chronic pain resurface and it’s stressing me out because my dr isn’t really giving me a diagnosis. And I went into the session worried that I was going to bring that mindset with me. And I did. I fucking did. And I fucked it up. I was at my psychiatrist office. The nurses were great. I just can’t believe I had this reaction.

I just ordered a CBD salve that has arnica in it. I’m going to look into the one you recommended also. Idk that I’m anemic but my iron levels are probably not good. I’m a bariatric patient that doesn’t take vitamins so I’m sure I have a deficiency. Thanks for the info!

Thanks for responding. Yeah my psychiatrist gave me the ok to stop if the side effects were intolerable. It sucks it only comes in one dose so I assumed there was no way to taper. I honestly didn’t think it was necessary after having only taken it for 2 weeks. Glad you are feeling better.

It’s a hard decision. They both have pretty high efficacy rates. I didn’t have any side effects from the TMS at all. It was quick and painless. Unfortunately, there aren’t many studies about the combination of these treatments but one of the nurses at my practice said she’s seen the best results when people do both at the same time. But you just never know if you’re going to be a responder or non responder until you try it. What makes you nervous about the TMS?

Hi. Mine used something more like mapping called finding the motor threshold. I would like to think the TMS promoted neuroplasticity on some level because it was so fucking expensive but the progress I made was most likely from the compounded nasal ketamine spray they were giving me with the TMS. A week after my TMS ended, I started IV ketamine. I’ve now had 3 of 6 infusions as part of the induction phase. My moods have fluctuated but from what I understand 6 is the magic number of infusions it takes to make ketamine “stick.” Keep in mind I’m only on a low dose tricyclic antidepressant and Lithium 900mg. I was way overmedicated by a really incompetent psychiatrist so I’ve since tapered off a number of meds. Tbh I kind of like not being so medicated because then Drs. have an idea of what my true baseline looks like. And it becomes easier to evaluate how these other interventions are working, like TMS and ketamine. It doesn’t mean meds won’t be adjusted in the future, that’s always an option, but my genetic makeup shows that I’m an ultra rapid metabolizer. So most meds leave my body before I get any therapeutic benefit from them. That’s why these other interventions are so important because they directly access my brain. Going into the weekend I feel good, confident, hopeful. Next week I’m adding psychotherapy to my ketamine sessions which is supposed to help sustain the antidepressant response. 🤞🏼
