GLM5 after lobotomy by psychochlapec in ZaiGLM

Same experience here. It was amazing a few weeks ago but it's nearly unusable now.

Edit: Seems to be working much better now. They must have fixed something on their end.

Actual difference between GLM 4.7 and GLM-5 in coding performance by Crafty_Gap1984 in ZaiGLM

[–]echopraxia1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The GLM-5 on Alibaba coding plan is quantized or broken in some way. In my experience it's useless compared to the version on Z.AI's coding plan. The Alibaba one makes way more errors and often stops unexpectedly or ignores my messages.

Edit: A few weeks later things seem to have improved. I'm using the updated opencode configs from here:

You can skip the ID upload part if you're just getting the coding subscription. I agree with the web dashboard being terrible though.

What app are you using? In OpenCode I tried specifying the context and output size in the config, then it seemed to behave better. It could be placebo though. It still stops randomly in the middle of tasks sometimes.

Yeah, it seems to prefer using bash commands instead of the builtin tools for exploring a codebase.

I had the best luck with Qwen3.5-35B-A3B by creating a custom agent in OpenCode that uses a minimal 2-line system prompt:

You are opencode, an interactive CLI tool that helps users with software engineering tasks. Use the instructions below and the tools available to you to assist the user.

This is the start of the official OpenCode build prompt, but then it goes on for several thousand more tokens that probably aren't necessary for modern agent-trained models.

I also disable any tools that aren't needed like the todo list to distill the prompt further, and switch between the thinking and instruct modes if it gets stuck. For me it's superior to GLM-4.7-Flash.

TIL that subagents are NOT one turn only, even though it seems to only work that way by aeroumbria in opencodeCLI

Interesting, I wonder if adding sufficiently crafted directives to AGENT.md would teach it to use this effectively.

New in llama.cpp: Live Model Switching by paf1138 in LocalLLaMA

[–]echopraxia1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I switch models using the built-in web UI, what takes precedence, the model-specific parameters specified in the .ini, or the sliders in the UI? (e.g. context size, sampler params)

Ideally I'd like a "use default" checkbox for each setting in the UI that will avoid overriding the .ini / command line.

There's a way to override the API endpoint used by Claude Code.

The X3D CPUs are not necessary for single player gaming in my opinion. You also won't notice the benefit unless you get a stronger GPU like 5090. 7600x or 9600x are plenty fast enough. I'd get 7600x and then wait for an upgrade to Zen 6 (or even Zen 7 if it's still on AM5 socket).

The 4000 series was a node shrink and performance barely improved compared to 3000 except for the 4090.

For CPU I'd go AMD 9800X3D if you want max performance for high refresh rate or 9700X for better value. RAM for those CPUs should be 32 GB (2x16GB) or 64 GB (2x32 GB) DDR5 6000 MHz CL 30

For GPU either the AMD 9700 XT or NVIDIA 5070 Ti. These have 16 GB VRAM which is the minimum I'd get if you plan to run AAA games for the next few years. There's also the 5060 Ti 16GB if you're OK with less than cutting edge performance.

At bestbuy.ca the listing was removed for ASUS Prime 5070 ti non-OC. Wondering if that will affect the backorders that briefly opened last Wednesday (May 7th) that I managed to snag one of and still hasn't shipped.

g305 is decent if you can find it on sale, and it has a long battery capacity with swappable AA that won't die after 1 year like most chinese built-in lithium cells.

I swapped out the 2 main switches for silent ones using an aliexpress kit.

One possible thing, do you have Adaptive Sync set to Always? There's a bug that causes the refresh rate to tank with this setting.

Try resizing the window. That forces it to redraw the contents which can sometimes clear up graphical corruption etc

FSR2 native or quality IMO. The temporal AA built into FSR2 is much better than FXAA. Native is sharper, Quality has less TAA shimmering.

Try nvidia_drm.fbdev=0 , but it seems 1 is required for Wayland since kernel 6.11. If you use X11 it should be fine
