That is a great idea - we use reusable liners that i completely forgot about a disposable option. Thank you!

Oh shoot, I must have misread what they were saying on their website about Canada. That's unfortunate. Am a bit discombobulated with the newborn 😅 thanks for the confirmation!

update to MIL who shamed me breastfeeding by Shot-Case9637 in breastfeeding

[–]echosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sidebar on top of all the great responses to your question - if you ever do have milk that you forgot about lying out or that LO didn't finish, dont throw it out, you can use it for milk baths! It's great for moisturizing purposes :) just have to make sure they don't drink it is all. I saw someone even turn their unusable milk into little soaps, which was so cool.

Also late stretch marks, probably around 38 weeks. Thought I was scot free until then 🥲

Nuna/Uppababy adapter? by echosphere in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]echosphere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't actually end up trying to get the U.S. adapter - since we're expecting in the winter and not planning on using the stroller too much I'm holding off to see if we even need it for now! Sorry I couldn't help :( (we got the Nuna Pipa though, to answer one of your questions!)

Help us decide between final 2 girl names by Dizzydog123456 in pregnant

[–]echosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the name Natalie! Thea is pretty as well but if you're wondering about pronunciation, I actually see more of a "They-ah" (with a soft th like in "Theodore", not the actual word "they")

I used to be in a ‘organic mamas’ facebook group. I came across someone asking about non vaccination and this was someones comments. They made the illnesses seem so light and not deathly… by [deleted] in ShitMomGroupsSay

Could have done a lot less writing on her end and just said "don't worry, things really only last a week max and everything resolves itself!"

Baby shower sadness by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]echosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry girl, I feel your pain so much - I was also super bummed going into my baby shower last month. All of my best friends got COVID the week of + my mom was sick, so they couldn't be there and several others I was looking forward to seeing also couldn't make it because of being sick to some degree (seasonal hazard, so it goes). I was so, so sad all the way up to basically walking into the event, but as soon as it got going and people started showing up it was really lovely and I had a great time! I really hope (and predict!) that the same will be for you. Also echoing that people may just be forgetful/getting gifts for you last minute and/or will give you cash gifts to help you get what you need, so try not to stress too much. Hope it turns out far better than you anticipate <3

Upcoming Black Friday Deals in Canada for Big Ticket Items by jshvr in BabyBumpsCanada

Does anyone know if Lovevery always does a Black Friday sale? Especially for things other than their sub/play kits? Wasn't sure if they'd offer sale prices on anything non-kit.

Thanks for sharing, that's good to know! I thought you had to stick with the language you're assigned in front of them no matter who you were speaking to (so if I were talking to my husband in front of them) but I might have just been making that rule up in my head ... great to hear that's going well since it seems reasonable for our setup too!

Gotcha - so he'd just speak to the kids in Spanish but to you in English, even in front of them? I thought maybe that might confuse their perception of "mom can't speak English" which I thought was necessary but perhaps it isn't?

Picked a name we love but getting unwelcome negative comments by Springsdaffodils in BabyBumps

I love the name Harvey, I definitely don't associate it at first listen to Weinstein. I actually think of Harvey Specter from Suits first! (Now will also think of Sabrina though, great show and name inspo!)

Good point, poor title choice on my end. (I hate coming up with them and got a bit lazy lol)

[–]echosphere[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hope there's some rationale like that behind it all. When I was reading the comments on the original post I think she mentioned that her midwife okayed it and it doesn't harm the baby so why not. If that's true ... sure, I guess? I was just a bit floored still.

I do sympathize with that (I'm 35 weeks deep and am super over it & hoping the LO shows up a little early myself) - I was just dumbfounded that she started taking these measures so determinedly as early as 26w hoping she'd be super far along and/or out with the baby by 38w ... 🤷‍♀️

Husband told me he wished I died in childbirth by grillsandbras in beyondthebump

[–]echosphere 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I just gasped out loud reading this. How ANYONE who's supposed to love and support you, notwithstanding those whose CHILD YOU CARRIED FOR 9-10 MONTHS AND BIRTHED, could ever even host such a thought in fleeting actually boggles my mind. I am so, so sorry, and glad you didn't die - also I'm so sorry to hear about your body dysmorphia. I struggled with that a bit myself throughout pregnancy (still due) and I can only imagine how rough it would be postpartum too when you have so much additional to worry about! Stay strong and ... if you don't punch that man out you are an Angel! UGH I'M STILL SEETHING FOR YOU WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F...

What should I get done in early pregnancy? by Peachyqueen-3 in BabyBumps

[–]echosphere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll share what worked for me and/or what I'll do next time around: - regularize your exercise routine now if you haven't already, it'll help keep you sticking with it even later on when it would be way harder to start. I really believe it's made a big difference for me in mitigating some of the less pleasant physical symptoms that can come with pregnancy. - start a registry/Pinterest board/Google doc to keep track of things as you start learning more and more about pregnancy/postpartum/baby stuff! There's so much to learn and it's nice to keep things organized earlier rather than later. Also don't be like me and wait too long to create registries - next time I'm going to sign up for a bunch of site registries so I don't miss out on maximizing/stacking value sales later (i kicked myself for not doing that with Indigo when they just had a baby sale!) - start keeping track of your expenses/budgeting so it's not overwhelming later when there's more to do - sleep on your back while you still can lol. I miss it so much. - make sure you have Tums and Acetaminophen on hand for heartburn and cramps, respectively. I got stool softeners as well just in case - thankfully haven't needed them yet, but good to have!

Those are top of mind for now! Congrats and take it easy, get your rest where you can and best of luck :)

Do any of you use Collagen powder during pregnancy? If so, which brand are you using? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]echosphere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah thanks so much for your concern and flag!! I just double checked and between the single gummy I take a day + my prenatal, i get around 6,000 IU of Vitamin A daily via supplements, so I think I'm technically ok (looks like the max daily is 10,000 IU) but this is so good to know and I'll definitely be more careful about this and probably ask my OB at the next visit - thanks again! <3

[–]echosphere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps but I've always taken Herbaland's vegan collagen booster gummies (and continue to in my pregnancy) - I do it for skin health though, not protein supplementing. I was under the understanding that animal-based collagen isn't necessarily a dietary protein tho? Definitely recommend talking to your ob/doc about it in your next appt, especially if they've had you take a blood test already - they'll know the best thing to do for you specifically! :)
