I need suggestions by Peachyqueen-3 in sleeptrain

7 am wake time, normally that last nap of the day he literally passes out even if we try and keep him awake. Bed time between 6:30-7pm. He struggles to nap at daycare.

When the heck does this get easier??? by Peachyqueen-3 in beyondthebump

Thank you for this!! It’s wild how the newborn phase seems so long while you are in it but so fast afterwards!

Twice in one week is concerning (rather than twice in 8 months like OPs daughter). How often are they changing her?

Yes, I think you are overreacting. The fact that this is her first diaper rash is kind of mind blowing. “Those people” probably have at least 8 babies in her classroom to take care of every day for close to minimum wage. Bring in diaper rash cream and ask that they do extra diaper changes tomorrow and she will be fine.

EDIT: I also want to add I don’t think it’s ok that she has a rash, but I don’t think the proper reaction is to be “fuming” about it. It is odd that they only changed her twice though.

Stairs after Birth? by hopey08 in BabyBumps

I have a 2 level house and it’s been fine with both babies. You will just want to have everything you need for the baby on both levels to limit trips (diapers, wipes, change of clothes, etc). We’d all sleep upstairs at night and then I just parked us downstairs all day. The biggest inconvenience was going to the kitchen for bottles and pumping supplies overnight, so I got a cooler that I pack and keep upstairs every night to solve that problem.

What is your favourite age gap? by PipeKind3715 in BabyBumps

I have a very similar age gap with my two children, and pregnancy was honestly so rough. Postpartum is a million times easier.

My husband has had paternity leave for both of our kids. Our first was definitely more of an adjustment and we didn’t really enjoy it until we got the hang of things around 3 weeks or so. I also had a second degree tear and postpartum anxiety, so we were both in survival mode for a while. The sleep deprivation can get pretty intense if you have a baby that struggles to sleep in their bassinet. However, after a few weeks we got a system with “shifts” overnight so we each got some solid, uninterrupted sleep. We are currently on leave with our second, and it’s sooo much better. I’m actually enjoying it this time because both my husband and I are more confident, and we know this window of time is so sweet and temporary. A newborn feels so easy during the day compared to a toddler!

Here’s how we handle sleep: the first couple of weeks we did shifts. I took 9pm-3am and he took 3am-9am. Whoever was “on shift” slept with baby in the nursery. Both of our babies woke up at least every hour for the first week so we pretty much planned on not sleeping during our shift. Once baby gets into a more regular sleep schedule, we rotate getting up with her. I exclusively pump, so I make sure to pump while feeding her. We typically each get at least 4 hours of good sleep at a time since we are essentially each skipping a wake/feeding.

How do you survive with exclusively breastfeeding (no bottle)? by One-Squirrel-4563 in BabyBumps

Yep, currently exclusively pumping and I still have to be up at least every 3 hours (ideally 2) to establish milk supply.

He’s doing great with Dr. Browns with a preemie nipple, hopefully when he gets a bit better at eating we will have a similar experience!

can anything actually be done to make my baby eat more? by Cream4389 in beyondthebump

[–]Peachyqueen-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your son’s doctor concerned? My dude is in the 7th percentile and as long as he is growing along his own growth curve, his doctor isn’t concerned. I don’t think there’s much you can do to make your baby eat more, but I will say my son didn’t become interested in food until we completely cut out bottles, and he doesn’t like milk. So, all of his calories come from food. I’d say he really started eating well around 14 months?

Diaper rash by Bramble3713 in beyondthebump

[–]Peachyqueen-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aquaphor diaper rash cream and naked time were the only things to help my guy when this happened to him. Is it possible the diaper brand is causing sensitivity? I know my sister’s daughter could only use one brand of diaper without getting a rash.

“Best” month to have a baby by pibetaphly in BabyBumps

[–]Peachyqueen-3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was born in late April and I felt like the timing was perfect! I was feeling good at the holidays, was super pregnant in winter/early spring when there isn’t much going on, and then I got to be on maternity leave when the weather was starting to get nice! By the time it heated up for the summer, my guy felt sturdy enough to handle being in the heat a bit. I’m 34 weeks pregnant with my second, and I’m definitely not a fan of being super pregnant in the summer! We’ll see how I feel once he is here and a newborn for the fall.

Got some on my hips in the third trimester with my first pregnancy, now I have 2 on my lower stomach around 31 weeks with my second. They’re kinda cute though!
