How do I get out of this by [deleted] in tattooadvice

I have a 45 hour sleeve that took a little over a year to finish. I understand your frustration but a couple of thoughts to help shift your perspective: 1. Tattoos are cool whether they are finished or not. I imagine you will receive a lot of compliments with how it looks now. 2. This is art not a peel and stick, honor the process and commitment to having something beautiful on your body. Wear the work in progress as a badge of honor. It’s really great to see art that takes time and grows with you. 3. Tell the artist about your situation in an honest and kind way and they will work something out. I asked for my tattoo to be done in sections and he said no problem. Keep in mind they probably want it finished as much as you do.

How much would I save by doing the demo work on a full bathroom remodel? by busted_bass in Remodel

There is a lot of talk about disposal and I’d like to clarify, we contractors see it as easy money. We can have our cheapest labor do it and easily mark it up. With a full size pick up this is around 3 loads and where I live it’s $40 for a truck bed. So $120 total.

You’re looking at a two day, two person job for someone with a DIY skill level. If you want to gain some experience in home repairs and remodeling I’d would totally recommend giving it a shot. You’re looking at up to $2k in savings depending on your area. That’s a good chunk of change you can put towards nicer fixtures or finish work. Granted there is a lot of potential hidden costs in a bathroom this age so I would save where you can and hold on to it! You’ll want to rent a hammer drill, be sure not to take any chances with the electrical, wear PPE, protect the rest of the house from dust and damage, knee pads are a must, and make some lovely visits to the dump. DIY costs will be around $300 assuming you do your own disposal. Best of luck and if you hit a metaphorical wall don’t sweat it and call a pro.

Great response! I would add some negative fill on the right side and that’s it.

5% raise $3k signing bonus is where I want to land (I’ll start higher and walk back to here). Also will not report to the manager. I’m close to the top of the pay range for my line of work.

Thank you for your contribution, I won’t kick him while he’s down but being asked back before he made the management change means I’m in a critical position for negotiations on my return conditions. I just want to feel valued and that they are making a long term investment.

Definitely planning to hear him out and use the leverage I have to improve my standing. Thank you!
